although most of the time they have a small idea of what they're saying, I prefer to not read reviews until i've played it myself.

think about it…. how can you compare what they're saying to the game if you haven't played it? that's false economy and false hope! lol.

I'd rather read a review and avoid a less good game rather than buy it and be disappointed.

I don't trust many game review sites but IGN is one of them I trust.

R2 I've played quite a bit already and can't do much other than agree with the review score it received 🙂

that’s a good counter-argument!

and yeah IGN is probably one of the best review sites.
But surely you must have some idea of what’s going to be good anyway? otherwise you wouldn’t be interested in getting it in the first place, right? 😀

Yes of course, after years and years of gaming I've definitely picked up the ability to see myself what's a good game and what's a less good game. 🙂

I usually have my pre orders in way before reviews hit the street. But in the cases where I'm a bit unsure about a game, then it's good to have the reviews available to decide whether to get it or not.

This wasn't the case with R2 though since it's been on top of my most wanted games list for a good while.

I am glad that I sometimes read reviews, and base my decision to buy on said review. I wanted Blacksite and Turning Point, but was saved eighty quid by OPM lol

me too, just read the review in OPM – sounds amazing!

everything that needed improving has been improved, and the game is HUGE!
