Despite the fact DeadKlown lives up the road and was here the other day, I'll still leave a response to this.
Yeah, I'm Mark and I'm 26. First videogaming memory was before kindergarten when my dad would go to work in the morning but left detailed instructions on how to access games on our old 8088 computer. Had instructions to get into “Wheel of Fortune” in DOS. Of course at that time computers did not have hard drives. There was a series of “Big Blue Disks” (Thats the name of the series and does not reflect on the size, nor color of the disks) that came on 5 1/4″ disks that had an assortment of applications and games on them. If you think games like DOOM look ancient you have NO idea…This was LONG before the technological marvel known as the 486 Processor.
According to my parents they gave me dads old intellivision before that, but I cant remember playing anything on it. Probably just rubbed the controller up and down my face all day long, so not much has changed I guess.
HAH! Thats exactly what I'm talking about with the 5 1/4″ disks! disks that were floppy! no hard drive! all DOS commands! love it.
October 1, 2009 at 4:41 pm #44480shadeblackParticipantam now 20 years old.
megadrive was my first console.
sonic the hedgehog was my first game.
Moved on to gameboy from there.
In 1996, I recevied a japanese copy of Pokemon Green and finished it some time after.
Oh how i loved that game (and actually still do). Having it before everyone else was a laugh. I got rediculed for playing pokemon in school. then one year later everyone else had the english version. ironic eh?
October 1, 2009 at 9:14 pm #44483NinjaMidgetMemberI'm 19, first game was super Mario on the snes i think, then moved on to Destruction Derby on the PS1 and Super Smash Bros on the N64. Then played FFVII
I'm quite surprised that I'm one of the “older ones” on here. It doesn't make a difference how old you are however.

Although i agree with you on a political standpoint, I believe the age of person allows themj to dictate on certain games far better than a younger person can.
example:
Sonic the hedgehog.
Hi! I'm ten years old and i think Sonic Unleashed was AMAAAZINGGG!¬!!!”oneone!!!111
Hi! I'm twenty years old, and i only wish that sonic team would get their act together…
October 2, 2009 at 5:45 pm #44579x_D3adk0wn_xMembera very good point shade

lol, fair point shade!
Although i would suggest that the “awesomeness” of sonic the hedgehog is entirely down to opinion, not age. Certain 20 year olds' might enjoy it (probably not many though, i agree that sonic should probably die).
For example Ratchet and Clank still remains one of my favourite games, but this might be because it is a universally funny game that anyone can join in. Sonic is aimed at the younger generation.

yeah but the ratchet and clank franchise didnt start strong and get crappy like sonic.. i think his point was that not having a baseline to compare skewes the judgement of the younger gamers a bit when it comes to games these days..
hope i got that right shade

Ditto. It gives a little more relevence to the opinion on games when people grew up with 8-bit, so we all know what a long way they've come. Like how sonic started great, but his ultra speed led him so far down hill he lost momentum and can't get back up. Although I will lend credit to the teenagers in the crowd here… most of them display a level of maturity in the discussions than I usually do not find with people that young. This is probably why I stick around. Kudos to the APT community!
