Same price as the Stimulus Package; $15, 5 maps; 3 new maps + 2 recycled maps from COD4,Strike and Vacant. As usual its timed exclusively to 360 first.
Seems like Activision really likes milking the crap out of the MW2 fanboys. What d'ya guys think?
May 15, 2010 at 12:54 am #61923The GeneralMemberKudos to Activision.
They've found a formula where mindless 'tards will fork over a brand new games' value for map packs. All the while, LOL'ing all the way to the bank. Then a month or two down the road, those mindless 'tards ask themselves, “WTF was I thinking???”.
I think it started with COD4…
Rinse & repeat with WAW…
Rinse & repeat with MW2…
Rinse & repeat with ***insert title here***….
May 15, 2010 at 12:57 am #61924pool96MemberI think I am long done with Modern Warfare 2, I have re-fallen in love with open world games so Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City, Just Cause 2 and Red Dead Redemption will keep me busy over the Summer. Modern Warfare 2 will probably be getting traded in to help pay for Red Dead Redemption, I also need to save up for a Marshall guitar amplifier to go with my new Epiphone Les Paul.
I just want to ask anyone who bought the Stimulus package, where Crash and Overgrown changed much if at all? I mean compared to World at War, the map packs are $5 more expensive, but these ones have two recycled maps?
May 15, 2010 at 1:02 am #61926The GeneralMember@redbren: I don't know if they are the same, but a friend bought them and he says all the maps are a camper's paradise. Snipers galore.

I think that's a formula being applied to DLC in general. Since PSN started we've seen a steady increase in price and not much of an increase in content quality to go with it. I paid a fiver for the new BC2 pack and all it included was camo patterns for four guns and marginal changes to the character skins.
Re-hashing old maps is just cashing in on nostalgia. The same is happening with PSN titles. How many “HD” versions of old crappy arcade shooters have we got?

well after playing them quite thoroughly over the last week i can say the new maps have less camping than the original maps with the exception of Overgrown but cmon it was pretty much always a sniping map. But back on topic I have found the other four to work really well with areas of the map for different styles like bailout has a few open straights for sniping but also has lots of corridors and small rooms for CQB as well as plenty of cover ( Has been a godsend for getting the FMJ challenges done) the only map i have a problem with is Storm as it has the characteristics of a bad map Raining, Dark, Little Scenery, Plenty of Sniping points but even that has turned out to OK. But by far my favourite point is that all the tossers and 8 year olds haven't bought the map packs due to having no money so even the lobbies have become more enjoyable therefore i have to say it's defo worth getting and I wll be getting Resurgence too.

I didnt notice anything different when i was playing those two maps…pretty much the same for me. I got pretty bored easily with the new maps bc of how they implemented them in the game modes. Im no good at the game modes they chose to put those maps in.
May 16, 2010 at 8:52 pm #61958tommyflopMemberI'll be buying it!! Why? Cos i'm a grown man and i can do what i like with my hard earned money, that's why. Old maps, new maps, i'm not bothered, the four old ones just happen to be among my favourites anyway. Nobody seems to moan at EA for releasing every sports sim possible year in year out, then sell you dlc on top, and if that isn't shameless enough they release a world cup/euro game every 2 years to boot(football) new golf courses for tiger woods etc. I agree with monkeyboobs. Don't like don't buy, EASY!

You forgot to mention about EA that if you buy used games/rent games and want to play online, you need to pay $10 just to access it.
I myself don't have any opinion bout the maps cause my PS3 is still broken and I'm getting my Slim today. But I think I'll try out the Stimulus Map Pack first and If I got bored easily with it,I'll be playing Bad Company 2 for awhile.I think Activision is planning to release all the maps from COD4 in the DLCs,seeing they're making a lot of money overpricing these maps.

I dont think there can be any more map packs now….Infinity Ward are officially closing down i thought..may be wrong but i'm sure i've read it somewhere a while back

Yeah you're right. I've just read that 38 current employees of IW formed Infinity Ward Employee Group and are sueing Activision because they didn't receive any royalties from the game. One speculation is Activision is holding off paying them because they want IW to make Modern Warfare 3.
Though I'm not gonna be surprised if Activision is gonna release a 3rd Map Pack seeing they released Stimulus even though Zampella and West were fired a few months before.
