I am not very good at the shooter type games and I thought I would have a go at the final gold/platinum for this game, but have to give up. It took me about 10 hours or so on Hard to get through, but Crushing is way too frustrating. Is crushing that much harder than the hard level or is it in my head?
August 21, 2008 at 8:22 pm #16191PS3 TrophiesKeymasterI'm playing through it on hard now and think it's hard enough, can imagine that on crushing you can't take much damage at all.
August 21, 2008 at 9:12 pm #16192bskeillorMemberFrom what I could tell 3 shots max and dead. I'm at the plane crash site now and I can't get past it to the plane, which is the easier wave of enemies. For me it's not the number of shots I take, it's the slow recovery time from near fatal that gets me killed.
August 21, 2008 at 9:14 pm #16194Garrant3MemberI don't think I'm gonna even try and play it on crushing. That's crazy that you can only get hit 3 times!
I really want that platinum though.
August 22, 2008 at 12:22 pm #16197ManeoriXMemberAs it has been stated a few times already on the game page, all you need on the crushing mode is a litte patience. If you already know where they spawn and where they are coming from it's a lot easier to take them out – aim for the head. It's obviously best to stay out the line of fire for the most the time, in and out, without getting hit. Because it's more like 2 shots and you are dead. Also they enemies will always come to you, so if stay behind a wall waiting for them they will come, so you can take them out one by one as sneak up.
It's actually a lot easier than you would think as long you have your tactis right, obviously there are annoying encounters, like the final battle at the end of chapter 4. I myself completed crushing in 6½hrs, 2hrs faster than I did on hard. All you need is a little patience, and obviously aim ;).
Hope this helped a little,
MnX
August 22, 2008 at 1:42 pm #16198RazeMemberI've completed it 100%. Hard is sorta hard, but the key to crushing is patience!!! Just wait it out when you get shot and take it one step at a time.
August 22, 2008 at 7:58 pm #16199shadeblackParticipantHi!
I too had troubly doing crushing mode, and still am, but im slowly getting through it. I completed the game about 2 times before i went to crushing, so i know a lot of where to go, and shoot before the enemies appear, like the other guy. But i believe the key to this mode is to have at least one or more of these:
Expert FPS performance/experience,
Luck; or
Patience.
If you have none of those qualities, then don't even try crushing.
If you do, and are, however, but need some tips – I would say just try not to get frustrated, and keep trying again and again until you pass the checkpoint. Think of it this way – Once you've passed that checkpoint, you never have to do it ever again! 🙂
That's really all there is to it!
August 23, 2008 at 5:23 pm #16206RazeMemberlol yeah and the last part on the ship is a royal pain!
August 24, 2008 at 5:08 am #16211jamesb5374MemberI completed hard level in 10 hours 11 minutes, gonna do crushing now, just wanna get some of the trophies i.e. survivor and steel fist expert first on an easier level!!
By the way, how easy is it to get the melee from behind trophy? I can't remember too many opportunities to sneak up on someone.
August 24, 2008 at 1:21 pm #16214shadeblackParticipantThe sneak up trophy i did by doing the boat scene again and again. you can usually get about 2 or 3 sneak attacks on the boat if you do it correctly. also, after the third wave of enemies, restart the checkpoint, and keep doing it until you have the trophy.
another place is in chapter 4 i think, just before the fortress, and there two enemies with their backs to you before you enter that particular scene. Kill the two enemies by sneaking up to them, and then die to restart the checkpoint and keep doing it.
hope that helps 😀
August 24, 2008 at 9:21 pm #16224Garrant3MemberYeah, it usually helps to restart a checkpoint by dying. I've done that for most of the trophies where you have to use a specific weapon to kill a certain amount of people.
Does anyone have any tips on how to kill three people with one grenade? Do you just have to wait until three people clump together?
August 25, 2008 at 6:18 am #16227zrerzMemberdaft one for you all, if you check my trophies online, you’ll see I have all medals required to finish game on crushing, and win platinum, so completed crushing, nothing happened, checking in game stats, it tells me I’ve only reached 78%, and still need steel fist expert and granade launcher but I’ve got them both already, what’s going on?
August 25, 2008 at 6:20 am #16228ManeoriXMemberGarrant3:
There is a place in chapter 5 where it is very is to get that trophy. After you find Elena's parachute in the tower, you take the rope into the control room. When that happens alot of baddies appear in the courtroom down below, there a lots of explosive barrels, and down near your bottom right if you directly out of the room there is a barrel. When they storm out, three should coming running near that barrel, just shoot it and you should get them all, and then die and repeat.
Hopefully it was understandable.
August 25, 2008 at 8:05 am #16231bskeillorMemberGarrant 3, the the 3 people blown up at once is pretty easy when you get to the jeep level. On the right hand side there is a barrell and 3 baddies that run out at once. Hit that barrell at the right time and you'll see all 3 of them airborne. It's pretty touchy so it'll take 5-10 minutes but it does work. Just reset to checkpoint at the first archway and you'll have it.
The mistake I made was that I was about a third of the way through Hard and I decided to do the steel fist expert and a few others so I played chapter select. Bad idea! I had to restart my Hard game all over again because it didn't have credit for those chapter ones I did. Might be Zrez's problem he posted.
August 25, 2008 at 11:35 pm #16239Garrant3MemberThanks guys for the tips! 🙂 I now have all of the trophies except beating it on normal, hard, and crushing, and then of course the platinum.
