Have any of you considered jumping ships to Xbox, well buying an Xbox, i'm considering buying one for kinect but well… i want to know your opinion
December 31, 2010 at 11:05 pm #68531I773D33MABL3MemberNot really. The exclusives they have aren't worth it and, for me anyway, Kinect is a novelty that has nothing to do with actual gaming.
January 1, 2011 at 12:37 am #68532gr8jrfanMemberKinect is stupid IMO. The only reason id ever take a 360 is for Gears of War. We got ME2 and that’s pretty much it.
January 1, 2011 at 2:01 am #68535Ratchet525MemberI'd get one to play with my friends.
January 1, 2011 at 3:40 am #68536Doc-BMemberI actually think Kinect has some potential… People were dubious about the Eyetoy when it first came out but now, almost 4 years on, it's as popular as ever and a must have to use Move…
So let's think a bit into the future… With the evolution of 3D and suchlike, the concept of wearing glasses to watch Tv is slowly creeping in. I can see M$ trying to pull of 'full game immersion' by using Kinect and some sort of visor/glasses… Can you imagine being 'inside' a game… A fully interactive 3D world that you are part of. This could take RPG, along with everything else, to the next level! Move is already an old idea, an upgraded version of the Wii pretty much.
That's not gonna happen anytime soon though, but think in the next couple of years… Juicy. It's not just gaming that's effected though… General interactivity has been massively improved overall on the 360 IMO because of Kinect. And as i say, this is only the first iteration of Kinect.
Even the adverts for the two new controllers (Move/Kinect) are worlds apart… The Move advert sucks IMO, lol…
———————————–
With the release of the new 360 'S' and Kinect I've thought about getting one as well… I really don't rate Move but i must admit I'm very interested to see what M$ can do with Kinect. And I'd say the online side of things are better on the 'dark side', lol…
It's only because M$ have a sh!t machine that's got better and better over time that I've even thought about buying one. Sony have had a solid product since the Ps1 but it's there 'services' that lack somewhat and that's what annoys me. But at the end of the day it's taken M$ 10 years to make a console I'm even slightly interested in… And that's why I'll prob. never buy one.
The Ps3 is, IMO, the greater machine… Blu-Ray Kicks ass too!! But if you have the money go for it man, I for one think it's pretty sweet. Even if i don't actually have one, lol…
**EDIT**
I have owned both the X-Box and the 360 so i know i don't like M$ consoles…

I hear what your saying… I myself think the term 'lol' has been overused in the last few years but the fact is it's now the accepted generic term to convey an emotion state in a formal stated fashion that anyone can understand. The emotion of something being even mildly funny? For me, the term 'lol' saves a couple of sentences of explanation because 'lol' can mean a lot.
And to my defence i only used it the two times i had a chuckle to myself – I thought it was funny that The_Mo called M$ 'The dark side' and that i have have a lot of opinion about something I've never even tried. I'm not laughing out loud but it's better than writing something like – having a chuckle to myself about something I've just though of when writing this post… I guess i could use to mean lol as can mean even more…
Sorry, lol… Sh!t, i mean sorry

That's okay, I was just messing with ya (apart from the bit about hating LOL).
As for the Kinect. I'd say its something that I'm mildly curious about trying but the only person I know who owns one is my brother and thats a whole 'notha can of worms!!
I've been a bit dissappointed with the Move so far. Of the games I've tried:
The Shoot was enjoyable enough but you have to take it quite seriously to progress past level 3.
Kung Fu Rider was probably the worst game I've ever played and I've played some stinkers!!
Start the Party was quite a fun family game.
Heavy Rain?? Unknown. I didn't realise that it required the Navigation Controller as well as the Motion Controller so once I've got the funds I'll give it a try but from what I've heard it doesn't really add anything to the experience.
It'll be interesting to see how they implement it into KZ3. If its just a case of turning it into a Time Crisis/The Shoot experience I don't think it'll work.
I've picked up the SE of Dead Space 2 that comes with Extraction so will be interesting to see how that works out.
Anyway, if we keep this up there's a danger that this place may rise above STFU's and the like so I'll just say KTHXBIE
January 1, 2011 at 10:55 pm #68551parnakasMemberNever considered buying one, because the exclusive games for Sony far surpass those on the 360 imo. Plus, Xbox doesn't really have anything that interests me, I especially hate their dashboard when you start up the system.
I'm not a fan of motion controllers, I think they are only fun for a couple of hours or if you have a bunch of friends over. Other than that, I feel games should be played with the standard controller. I love it like that. PS Move is meh, I played it a few times, but its nothing I would ever buy. Same thing goes for Kinect. I don't have a big room to play games in, my room is extremely small! Where am I gonna find the space to move around and whatnot. Thats my rant on motion controls. Maybe Kinect or Move can prove me wrong about the whole motion thing, but the Wii failed miserably. Ruined Nintendo's reputation completely.
January 1, 2011 at 11:04 pm #68553Doc-BMemberI can almost imagine M$ releasing some sort of Kinect glove or something for force feedback 'aka' rumble functionality. Perhaps…
As for kinect itself… I'll get it if it ever evolves past jumping up and down or waving my arms about, much the same with Move, because even though I'm a slight fanboy I'm not uptight enough to avoid buying a interesting new tech. just because it's made by a 'rival company'.
It's like this… Full interaction with no controller is, IMO, a million times better than more interaction with two stupid Wii like controllers… It's all about where the tech. goes from here and the fact that Kinect is already using no controller makes it more interesting even on paper.
But as emdeepee says, this is perhaps a discussion for a very different site…

I can't agree with you but I can't disagree either. I have a Wii, and few are the developers that know how to use it. I guess only Nintendo's first-party devs can make some great games (Super Mario Galaxy 1&2, Sin and Punishment 2, Metroid Prime Trilogy -BEST COLLECTION I'VE EVER PLAYED-, Legend of Zelda… all Nintendo classics). At least some games have Classic Controller/GameCube controller support (which is great, Muramasa: The Demon Blade is such game with controller support).
And of course there's the compatibility with GC games. Also, the Wii can be modded to be a powerful emulator (NES, SNES, N64, GB/GBC/GBA, PlayStation, Dreamcast, Genesis, Saturn, TurboGrafx).
So I wouldn't say the Wii is bad. It just has bad games.
