To start off, I did not buy Resident Evil 5 for the PS3. I bought the 360 version because I sent my PS3 to Sony to be repaired (the Blu-ray player dying). Anywho, I was playing the game and I could sit there and pick out all the parts they pulled from Resident Evil 4.
To me, it just felt like Capcom reused the same ideas from Resident Evil 4, but they added co-op. Long story short, I did not beat the game. I just grew bored because I played this game already. I mean, I own the Gamecube, PS2, and Wii versions of Resident Evil 4, but I just couldn't finish it this time. I will finish it one of these days, but there are too many new and interesting games being released.
How many other people feel the same way? I'm not saying Resident Evil 5 is bad or anything, but it felt like playing a Gamecube game with better graphics….
On a side note, I think this game would have rocked with Wii-like controls.
May 16, 2009 at 10:46 am #25964PS3 TrophiesKeymasterI found it pretty good, just finished it and got the platinum.
But I would not have played it as much if it didn't have co-op, so that was a great addition imo. It's alot more fun than playing with the AI.
The negative things is that it's no longer any horror involved, it's instead a pure action game. Also I don't like the QTE' parts of the game.
May 16, 2009 at 2:55 pm #25974orestes1981MemberLike BioShock, I will just pick up the PS3 version when the price drops. The truth of the matter is that I bought the 360 version because I had to wait for the PS3 to get back. Oh well….Eitherway, the game would just shit on my shelf.
I'm too busy playing Prince of Persia, Mirror's Edge, Fallout 3+ALL DLC, or (insert random game from my library). In addition, inFAMOUS is coming out in a few days, and I'm going to pick that up as well. I just was frustrated with the copycat feel of the game. My opinion may change in the future, though.
May 16, 2009 at 3:10 pm #25976Doctor_RockMemberI liked Resi 5. It sure would be nice for the older games to turn up available for download but Resi 5 is a good stopgap. As for the 'copycat feel' they found a system that they think works and stuck with it. What's wrong with that?
May 16, 2009 at 3:52 pm #25982gow2rulesMemberi think capcom went with resi 5 the way they did is that they needed a secure game that would make money and not make too many changes as it would be risky
May 16, 2009 at 4:52 pm #25984dizzel22MemberSo u beat the game on the 360 then got bored of it on th ps3 , i wonder why ??
Please can we stop the comparison from RE5 to RE4 , RE5 is alot better and not just by much but by a mile .
This is just GTA 4 v GTA SA all over again no matter what way u look at it GtA 4 was the better game.
i understand you didnt say it was better but if it did anything it took ideas and made them better
May 17, 2009 at 9:01 pm #26077KnoxieMemberi thimk Res5 is amazing, best game out atm & it is soo fun that i neva get bored of it u`no, i just love ownin those retarded majinis, sooo fun! the only annoyin bit is wen 1 of those sick majinis give u a violent hickie lol i love all modes on it, story, mercs & versus
May 17, 2009 at 9:51 pm #26083parnakasMemberi remember when RE was a survival-horror game, like RE4.
RE5 is an action game, no horror elements at all. Dead Space was better than RE5 imo.
RE5 mercs is fun, the single player NEEDS to be played in co-op for it to be fun. The enemies are SOOOOO stupid. it makes no sense, they just stand there, wait for you to shoot at them.
RE4 was a lot better than RE5 on most levels.

May 18, 2009 at 2:41 pm #26097BigWoopMagazineMemberYea, its a shame theres nothing scary in it. I mean, they got the big badass monsters that are gonna eeeaaat you, which makes ya go 'holy shit thats a big gooey sunnoffabich' for a second, but the presentation of it is so not scary. It cuts to a movie, shows you whats coming, then sets you on the fight. shoulda just had the thing leap out suddenly. The other thing that really detracts from any creepiness is the background music thats obviously supposed to be creepy. any time its playing, it indicates that an enemy is still nearby. when you kill the last one, the music goes away. this completely eliminates any possibility of scare tactics. AI sucks, both enemies and partner. nuff said.
assassinghost – do you read what you typed before you hit save post, or just close your eyes and hope it worked out all right? cause it didnt.

may i ask how come is GTA4 more better than SA? I know a few people who liked GTA4 better than SA but most people always preffered SA. I mean GTA4 is way too serious with the storyline, lacks the cheap jokes of SA, Lacks a decent map (after all liberty city/new york have never been done before have they?), missing planes the list goes on………OK GTA4 did have good graphics and an online mode (that i could never connect too for some reason) but i just feel it lacks what made me play san andreas for so long….The only game i have played recently that reminds me of GTA:SA is saints row 2 i have spent 70 hours of offline and a bit of co-op on that game! BTW sorry for going off topic

well i dont see anything wrong with a serious story line i actually think that's a good thing
The jokes are definatley there
imo the map was great who cares if it's liberty city again , it's completley different
Planes just wouldnt have suited the game (i do agree that the fighter jet wouldve been fun though )
The online mode brought replay value, most ppl ive heard that were upset with game couldnt finish the story mode and just keep playing cause they thought it was boring . Well it is and so was SA , not since Vice city has that been fun .
Back to topic RE5 is really just packed with replay value playing through by yourself for the first time is great , then u get the chance to play through with unlimited ammo with a friend which just becomes slaughter time loads of fun
So my thoughts on RE5 , top5 game ever
