Just as the topic says , what would you say is the game that changed your perspective on games in general ? Meaning motivations to certain genres , the game that started your gaming career in total ? Anything basicly having to do with inspiration , possibly even a game that has now landed you a job writing reviews for a magazine .
I would probably have to say my real first shooter was Duke Nukem . I mean maybe now that we look back at it , the graphics are crap , and ALOT can be improved on , but i would have to say this game is a huge conbtributor to why i love Shooters so much . I still remember going into the strip clubs , the cheesy catch phrases , and ofcourse endless gore i was exposed to at such a young age , heh i still even remember crying when my Dad took away since it was too violent . As you can see even the smallest games can have such a huge impact on who we are today .
Whats yours ?

My parents was constanly laving mw with my grampa and since he was keeping eye on the business I was there with him most of the time. So I played most of the arcades back then. I was not abel to reach the controller so I had to use a chair :D. BEst thing was that I did noth ave to pay for anything 😀
And it just sticked with me till now and I think it will remain like that 😀

December 3, 2009 at 6:00 am #51616GHOST305MemberI got to thank both DOOM and QUAKE for getting me into shooters. Also, I would like to thank the Final Fantasy Series for getting me into RPGs and Gran Turismo for Racing.

However, what really sealed the deal for me to being a gamer was the day I picked up a copy GTA 3. In about a few hours, I came to the realization that this was to be wave of the future, and I wanted to be there to see the progress of video games every step of the way.

December 3, 2009 at 5:40 pm #51643tridonMemberHmm… good question.
The first game I recall ever playing was the Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt two-pack on the original NES. It was 1990 and my grandparents returned from their annual Arizona trip and brought along a Nintendo system for my siblings and I. From that moment on, I played quite a few games but I never really seriously got into gaming.
I'd say that the moment I became a serious gamer was in 1998 when I saved up enough cash to buy my very own system; the Sony Playstation. Up to that moment, my parents had bought my siblings and I our systems, so buying a system with my own money was a pretty big deal at the time. And the reason I bought a PSX over anything else? Well, I was flipping through an issue of GamePro (or maybe it was EGM) and I came across the previews section. There were the world-exclusive first screenshots of Metal Gear Solid. That was the moment that made me into the gamer that I am today.
