woah woah woah now…. I feel the need to defend my country here, despite the incredible odds against me. Ahem… first off this is highly dependent on where in the country you go. I find that in certain cities it is more prominent than others. Where I live, I rarely see fat people. I assume thats because they are too lazy to leave their houses and walk around. What I do see are lots of people of average weight walking to where they are going. I think that unless you really have a horrible diet, or for some odd reason drive everywhere, its hard to get fat in the city. You have to walk everywhere! Ratchet, I'm surprised to hear this out of you, when I visited LA a couple years ago I saw some of the skinniest girls I've ever seen. I guess I also have the advantage of living near a college campus, but around here I see people running every day, walking their dogs, theres gyms everywhere, my co workers go work out and play basket ball on their lunch breaks (yea thats too nuts for me), and I generally see a lot of physically fit people. However, in rural areas, where you have to drive every where to get anywhere, and fast food is as close to a real restaraunt as it gets, you see a lot more tubbies. They don't walk their dogs, they let them out in a yard. They don't jog, they have cars.
@Parnakas – I gotta ask where you went, because no offense dude, but those people probably weren't as dumb as they seem (although, its definitely possible). Its pretty common in America to make fun of Canada… I'm not really sure why though. I think if they asked you about your igloo, they were being straight up jerks. Maybe not, if you went out into the sticks some people are pretty freaking dumb.
While I will admit that there are a lot of ignorant and obese people here, it still is not the majority of our population. Don't assume everyone here is like that. Oh and uh, steak and eggs for breakfast is pretty rediculous, no doubt. I saw that on a diner menu the other day,,, WTF?!
What gets me is the fat people who wear skin tight clothes…. do they look in a ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** mirror?!

got to agree with that bit (maybe not the statisics but definetely the statement, i have told several americans that im from wales and have gotten the reply `so you german then?` a good 3 or 4 times, when i tell them wales is a country, they often dont even know where it is…and im also pretty sure some americans believe `healthy eating` is a type of highly deadly and contagious virus that causes spontanious combustion and/or eruption, but thats only a few (around 35% of the population in 2006)
To be fair we only have a population of 3 million which is less than most US states.
We have however, produced Anthony Hopkins, Tom Jones and Catherine Zeta-Jones (amongst others).
We have the world's greatest rugby team and if you're a fan of Dr Who you can see where I got married in an episode from the upcoming season
I didn't know Wales was part of Ireland's Grand Slam Winners 2009, 2010,2011…….

Hmmm, Wales have won 2 Grand Slams in the last 5years to Ireland's one
You haven't won anything yet this year (although you do start as favourites with France)

Well 6 nations does start on Saturday so all will be revealed. Ireland have a nice opening game V Italy that we should win but as far as I know we have England and France away so it will be a difficult campaign.

February 5, 2010 at 11:47 pm #56985r23drummerMemberi plan to go to the pub tomorrow to watch the Liverpool football match. That constitutes exercise right?
February 5, 2010 at 11:52 pm #56986emdeepeeMemberCould have a perfect day tomorrow, with both Everton and Wales winning
Suspect it'll probably be the opposite though

we all know the Liverpool derby will be the most boring 0-0 game of the season, but Wales will likely win
