First off id like to say if i always seem to come across as big headed or somehting i dont always mean to be.. and this topic will pretty much explain why. The only reason i keep banging on about beating games at 100% easy or not is due to the fact people play games gets 1 or 2 trophies and then brag about how many they have once they have done it on multiple games. Then there are the people who stick a game out to the end. i know people say they dont have time or get bored but they aren’t excuses. i thought you play a game you enjoy, not purely for trophies like the majority of players now do. i aint saying that is anyone here. You can probably see me definition of the 2 by now:
Whore: Leaves games at a low %age and moves on BUT then likes to let everyone know their total count and seems to think its something to be proud of
Collector (a new term me and some mates decided upon) lol: Being bothered to stick a game out and get 100%.. people spend hours on end tyring to get a certain trophy which means the other gets in front of them but i think this is better because as well as needed a lot of time its the odd trophies that actually require skill.Anywho ill try and get somewhere with this monster, it annoys me (i imagine alot of others too) when people brag about doing easy games for platinums then try acting good because they have it when some try doing games like zuma and soldner-x to name 2 at 100%.. these take alot of time and are not easy! then when you try say to someone, get that trophy some lame excuse arises as to why it makes no difference or that the other person has more trophies so that somehow becomes irrelavent. i have always thought that trophy level meant more than total count. Heres an example:
Person A : 200 trophies – 150 are bronze, 50 silver
Person B : 150 trophies – 25 are bonze, 75 silver, 50 goldi know the gold count is a little high there but anyway. person a has more trophies but i guarantee person b has a higher level due to the better value trophies probably by working harder for them. its no use going on about having 1000 trophies if theyre all bronze and relatively easy because anyone can do that with time. But when other people do atch that total their level will be better by getting the torphies that whores cant be a***d getting..
proper long winded there lol sorry for the read but i cant seem to get anyone on here to understand me. im all for having fun and getting trophies but dont brag about getting easy 1’s when people lower than you only are because they try and get hard trophies. and yes for most of that i have been refering to myself 😀 lol opinions wanted!!
what is more important, trophy count or trophy level?
would you rather get lots of easy trophies or get hard 1’s such as wieout, zuma, soldner-x, bzb etc…?
and how do people on her efeel when someone tries to go on about howman tyhave? does no one ever get annoyed?July 13, 2009 at 10:17 pm #30367kingofgames73Memberi really, to be frank, couldnt give a damn about how many trophies i have. i just play a game and get the trophies i can along the way, i’ve only got 1 platinum, burnout paradise, which wasnt hard. but what do trophies mean to people?i mean until HOME gets the much awaited trophy cabinet, arent trophies just little pixels for the time being?
July 13, 2009 at 10:29 pm #30362Ratchet525MemberTrophies are just a bonus. I don't really care about them.
July 13, 2009 at 10:33 pm #30363CollbreastParticipanteven when HOME gets that trophys wont mean anything, itll just be another way to brag lol but im saying for all those people who do what i mentioned, how do you feel/react? and i want opinions on those questions i said 🙂
July 13, 2009 at 10:51 pm #30380emdeepeeMemberI personally wouldn't play a game I didn't like just for the trophies. Looking through my trophy list I've got less than 5% on games like Fallout 3, Street Fighter IV and Far Cry 2 (sorry but I just didn't like them ), however I've got anywhere between 60-100% on those that that I've enjoyed.
In some cases the Trophy system has extended the life of a game for me, for example, COD W@W Lets be honest how many people would have bothered to complete that on Veteran if it wasn't for the trophies?? And although the Veteran difficulty completely sucked the fun out of the game there was certainly a greater sense of achievement when I finally planted that Russian flag.
I still don't have Platinum on the game though becuase quite frankly I can't be arsed with Sum of All Zeroes. Does that make me a Trophy Whore? I don't think so.
My own definition of a Trophy Whore is:
Anyone who has Hannah Montana – The Movie Platinum (I'm sorry but there is no excuse for that)
As for people who go on about how many trophies they have, I'm happy to have a bit of friendly banter and healthy competition with my “real-life” friends but personally not bothered about how much better (or worse) than me those on my friends list are.

My old psn friend had the hannah montana plat. He is the BIGGEST trophy hore. Only cared about that.
July 13, 2009 at 11:05 pm #30382HypnosisMemberI agree with you completely Collbreast. I prefer to have quality not quantity of trophies.
I ususlly just laugh it off when someone brags about their trophy count, because i will just check and see their level and know which type they are,”Collector” or “whore”. I have a higher level than some people who have way more trophies than me, and thats because i took the time to get some of the tougher ones. Nearly all the platinums i have are on games that i own and a majority of them I would say are some of the tougher ones. I am a completionist or completeist, now sure which is the correct term. Which means that I try and get 100% on all the games I play, whether they are tough or not. Also just because you have a plat on a game doesnt mean you have the game 100% complete. For example: I have the infamous plat but my games saves are not at 100%.Which i cant figure out why being that i did everything possible to do on both karmas and difficulty levels. So I am still playing that game here and there working towards getting the game at 100%. Some people in another thread were saying why bother still playing it,if you already have the plat. And as I told them, i dont play all my games just for trophies I play because i enjoy games and i play to complete them 100% and platinum. There will be some games/trophies though that most likely wont be completed though due to real life time contraints and what not though, but i will still to get them from time to time. I never move off of a game completely that is not at 100%.
July 13, 2009 at 11:10 pm #30383CollbreastParticipantEXACTLY MY POINT lol 🙂
July 13, 2009 at 11:41 pm #30386shadeblackParticipantBeing a collector is good and all, but I thoroughly believe in playing games that I simply enjoy. I don't get games just for the trophies. it's lame. If I find people who start bragging about trophies, I generally stop talking to them because it's lame.
I stopped getting trophies a LONG time ago now, but as it stands, I have about 10 games (retail – excluding psn) and 7 platinums. Although I really enjoy getting 100% on the games I like, I MUST admit, there are some trophies that are simply not worth the time and effort.
Since the last retail game I bought, I haven't found a single ps3 game worth buying. I'm generally waiting for Bioshock 2 now.
But, in saying all this, I think you may have missed a large flaw in your definition between the two. The reason you're doing this is because you feel the need to clarify the difference (quite rightly too!) But essentially, both titles share a large and very common trait – both groups are obsessed with obtaining them, which inevitably ends up clouding their judgement slightly. It's unhealthy competition in my books.
In my opinion, I believe that trophy 'collectors' or 'whores' should take trophies and its equal conterpart (the leveling system), only lightly. If things are taken too harshly, then people start throwing words around.
July 13, 2009 at 11:58 pm #30388CollbreastParticipantno one has said theyre obsessed shade and i dont believe you are just by getting alot.. just means ya find it fun & have alot of time lol other than that i agree.
July 14, 2009 at 12:13 am #30392shadeblackParticipantYeah i don't mean it makes everyone obsessed, but it does provide the means for a potential obsession to grow.
July 14, 2009 at 12:14 am #30393CollbreastParticipantwithout a doubt, & it certainly isnt a healthy obsession
July 14, 2009 at 1:21 am #30399BdamacMemberim not disagreeing with you guys but i love getting trophies when there no good games coming out i just go back and play the game i like for a plat but thats about it i have games like LBP far cry 2 and prince of persia that i dont have plats on but since there no good games out until august 25 2009 when batman comes out i still have time to play those game except for far cay 2 thats and impossible plat
July 14, 2009 at 2:20 am #30405NodanodMemberlol, yeah, i agree that ppl who do play games that are piss 4 trophies are whores. Although, obviously its hard 2 tell if that was the purpose, for example if sum1 was bought terminator or sumfin. Personally, i play games that i enjoy, and platinum them if they are good. (W@W, QOS (not the best but wouldnt call it poor, and enjoyed singleplayer) Burnout, Fallout3, LBP, Uncharted) as Bdamac sed, far cry 2 is imppossible, and while i play that, i do target some trophies, but only through playing the game normally.
