May 9, 2009 at 5:26 pm #25037kingawolMemberseriously ? i'm a londoner but always assumed 'supper' was english , as my mother & aunt are from Devon…having said that its more of my parents' generation might use it.i'll just 'get some food' or 'ring domino's' or 'call for takeaway' …

the rest is true, but this isn’t.
I’m frm Essex (South East of England).
Breakfast in the morning, Lunch mid-day, Dinner at evening.
Tea is a drink, and so is coffee.
I’ve never heard anyone around here say supper, or brew.My brother lives in london, and hasn’t heard the terms you say either.
I’m also from Essex orignally. Whenyou move about the contry you hear many expresions. So you’ve never heard ‘Mum, whats for Tea?… Or the richer parts of London. ‘Mother, what is for Supper?…
I didn’t say anyone around london called the drinks Tea and Coffee a brew, but if you go to Manchester they will ask you, ‘would ya like a brew?’

Hey, since we're on the topic of being Canadian, I've got one! How about “eh”. That can mean pretty much anything here in Canada.
I dont get that. In Toronto, I have never heard anyone say “eh”.
But then i go to florida, and they ask : “So your canadain, EH”…. its like they are yelling the EH part…
I personally have never even said the word my whole life.
Other Canadians : Have you guys ever said EH?
Hmm, I guess this is only exclusive to Northern Ontario and not Southern… up here, saying “eh” after every sentence is practically a religion.

I always say “eh.” But not how Canadians get made fun of for using it. We're Canadian Eh like from Canada Eh. No.
It's a force of habit for me to use it when asking if someone agrees. “That was a good movie, eh?”
Instead of “That was a good movie, what do you think?” … it's a short cut
May 11, 2009 at 8:59 pm #25298KnoxieMemberdown here we use “eh?” as like “what?”
May 11, 2009 at 11:35 pm #25279Ratchet525MemberHeres an example on how i use “eh” and almost how all armenians do.
Random friend who has a beard: Hey dude you want to go climb that tree?
Me: Ehhhh..
