Borderlands 2 – How you like me now?
Much, much better.
August 8, 2013 at 11:09 pm #73406I773D33MABL3MemberI've spent most of today on the PS3 but with a poor return. I completed a chapter in Crysis 3 and played a chunk of the next one but I've reached a point where I have to drive a buggy along a river bed and it's just the worst driving sequence I'v come across in quite a while. The sound is truly appaling and feels like someone is holding an angle grinder to my ear. It's so high in the mix I can't hear the dialogue over it. And there's so much shit happening on screen I can't focus on anything. Every stage in this game brings a new disapointment.
I also started into Dishonoured which looks like it's going to as dynamic and exciting as Rage…
Fugly visuals, wooden animations and voice acting that sounds like it was borrowed from an automated customer service helpline. I've completed the first level and I really have no idea how the shit I'm gonna stay awake for two playthroughs.
My third choice today was Zombies in Black Ops. Back to Moon I went to get my last trophy. Nearly got there as well despite the autistic Mystery Box puking out (in this order) a China Lake, a HS10 (Okay weapon but ass for raking in points), an M72 and an L96A1. I was on round twelve still using a fcuking MPL! I even pack-a-punched the thing but that was my undoing. I forgot that the excavators cut off the tunnels so I couldn't get back to the biodome or the teleporter. Shite! Now I have to figure out how to hack those wankers before they cause me problems.

I'm finally done with Skyrim. That 100% was held up by the fight with the Ebony Warrior (you have to be level 78 to face him) and I killed him in less than a minute. What a fcuking chump. If I didn't have a billion other games to play and get trophies for, I'd probably still be playing it to be honest. It's hands down the best RPG I've ever played and anyone who says otherwise probably hasn't played enough of it, or is just too cynical to even have a say in anything.
Sorry man but if you think Skyrim is the best RPG then you're he cynical one for not playing enough of other RPGs. I'd understand if you played it on PC, but playing the game on Ps3 hardly gives you the full experience of that game.

I see I'm the only one who can appreciate that game.

Nathan said it was the best RPG he'd played, not the greatest ever made. And RPGs aren't too well represented on consoles to begin with. They tend to be poor cousins to their PC counterparts.
And obviously I'm not far enough into Dishonoured to judge it fairly but initial impressions are woeful. I was really hoping the game would deliver but so far it's underwhelming.

I think it's a gameplay game, not a graphics or story game. I think some people might like the setting or story or something, but I don't think it's supposed to be profound or anything. It's about alternate routes, some exploration and looting, and various options for beating a level or getting through an area. And Blink. It's a lot about Blink.

I'm guessing you're the local virgin.

I enjoyed the atmosphere of the game as well as its story. But the gameplay is definitely where the game shines. My only gripe with the game is that it isn't a truly open world game. I really hope they try to add an open city for the inevitable sequel.

That's why I told him to play more RPGs.

Ususally when people disagree, they give a reason why or at least in this case, a better RPG in their opinion. Name a better RPG then, Mr. Playstation. I'm curious. It'd be pretty cool to play it on the PC to see all the mods and stuff but I think it's good enough as the console version. It's not worth paying a huge amount of money to make my computer a gaming PC just for one game anyway.
August 10, 2013 at 8:10 am #73418Frederick_PlaystationMemberGaming PC's aren't that expensive. I'm sure you can build a good rig that can play Skyrim at a good frame rate with good enough graphics for a budget price.
I don't want to say anything old like Diablo II or Chrono Trigger or FFVII, so I'll go with a pretty recent game – The Witcher 2. Even Dark Souls. And of course, Morrowind.
Don't get me wrong though, Skyrim isn't a bad game. I'd just like you to play some other RPGs before making yourself think that its the best RPG out there.
The story is pretty weak. Most of the environments look the same (all the dungeons are just essentially the same environments). The combat gets boring. Just so many other things too..
August 10, 2013 at 10:15 pm #73419Seibei4211MemberKingdoms of Amalur, Kingdom Hearts II, Resonance of Fate, Golden Sun II, Tales of Symphonia/Vesperia, Final Fantasy XII, Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, Nier.
I think it's fine for gr8 to like Skyrim a lot – a lot of people do – but I don't like the “anyone who says otherwise probably hasn't played enough of it, or is just too cynical to even have a say in anything” sentiment though.
August 11, 2013 at 6:46 am #73420gr8jrfanMemberLet me make this clear: If The Witcher 2 were on PS3, I'd be all over that shit. I saw a review of it once and it looks fcuking awesome. The same goes for Kingdom Hearts as well, just gotta wait a bit more for that collection. I've been meaning to do Demon's Souls but it's a pretty large time investment and I'd like to finish some smaller stuff first. I'll stand by what I said about Skyrim. It's still the best RPG I've played, but sadly, I was trying to get a reaction out of scotty and his was pretty disapointing.

If you wanted to have a discussion about Skyrim, you could've just asked, not by putting some arrogant and naive comment without actually thoroughly researching as to why some people don't find Skyrim appealing or just don't like it. Also, I don't put up comments for your enjoyment; I'm not going out of my way to put something up for shits and giggles with no real argument. For instance when I stated my opinion as to why Man of Steel was reviewed correctly, you didn't have much of a say other than, “They're just nitpicks, really,” which is invalid as nitpicks is to “be overly critical”, which in no way, shape, or form were the problems presented in the film were nitpicks – it was just poor film making.
As for my “reaction” to your comment, it's an inside joke I decided to put up for my own reasons. Maybe if you didn't rely so much on improbable comments yourself, you'd get a much more reasonable discussion out of me, which you seem to be completely ignorant to.
August 11, 2013 at 9:33 am #73423Frederick_PlaystationMemberHow do you manage to miss Kingdom Hearts II during the Ps2 generation?
Unforunately, the Witcher 2 probably isn't coming to Ps3.
It really sounds like Skyrim has been the only RPG you've played.
@seibei
That's a good list. Nier was so under rated. Same with Kingdoms of Amalur. That game had so much potential. The Tales Of series is great too. Have you played Xillia?
Also Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is great as well.
