ermm people were maybe crying because they are passionate about it – just a guess. i'd have to say i was pissed off with the way we played, i dont know why shearer, lineker etc were 'bigging' us up before the game, they totally thought we would have confidence from a 1-0 victory against slovenia – bollocks. capello still had the formation wrong and dawson shouldve been before upson, i mean cmon he made klose look faster than lennon! i would still say we would have probably of got beat by germany if lampards goal stood, but then we couldve kept it at 2-2 considering we wouldnt need to commit as many players forward which related to the goals.
heskey for defoe, j.cole for milner & SWP for johnson? terrible subs. we need to get the youngsters playing in the premier league for the upcoming world cups.
anyways as i predicted, looks like a germany v brazil final, sadly.

I don't think England would have managed to keep it 2-2. They needed another goal to avoid penalties and that would have given Germany the gaps that they took advantage of anyway.

Well Germany's third goal came from an England free-kick where both centre backs were up for England. Even 2-1 down I thought that was madness, there was still around 30 minutes left and I felt England were on top in the second half until the third Germany goal. If England just kept plugging away I felt another goal was coming for England. I agree though, England need to rebuild for 2014, I don't think Lampard, Gerrard, Terry etc. will play in that so they need to blood their young players.

Rebuilding is definitely on the cards, but I think a re-energising of the team is needed. People are blaming several different reasons for England collapsing but whether or not the disallowed goal was to blame, a team can't just give up in the World Cup knock-outs.
Look at Mexico yesterday. 3-0 down (including a goal that they knew was offside) and they still attacked the game and got one back. That's the sort of resolve that wins tournaments.
June 28, 2010 at 11:33 pm #63057parnakasMemberWell I must say, these Knockout games are so much better than the group stages. Lots of excitement!!
England vs Germany: I think it just comes down to the fact that Germany is just a powerhouse team. If you give Germany the ball on an attack, they are going to score.
That was definitely the best game I have watched so far in the World Cup.
I definitely expect Germany vs. Argentina to be an awesome game.. that should be awesome.
And I definitely see a Germany vs. Brazil final.Â

No you don't. Germany x Argentine in the quarter finals and Brazil x Netherlands also in the quarter finals. If Brazil and Germany wins, they will play in the semifinals.
Just letting you know.
BRAZIL FOR THE WIN!

Oi! Less of them “facts” around here.
You leave the nice Mr Parnakas to his fantasies.

All right.
BTW⌠I still can't believe that major referee FAIL at the Germany x England game. That freaking ball entered the goal and they didn't consider it. England was supposed to score. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIhcvTpM3wk) Lampard couldn't believe it.
I mean, IT'S THE WORLD CUP. Things like that should get the referee FIRED.

It seems to be a really blatant blunder on the ref's part but all of the angles we've seen are from above or right beside the goal. It's a damn sight harder to judge depth when you're on a level with the ball and you can't see the line. If they actually showed the goal from the ref's point of view then I think it'd put a different slant on the problem.
The ball made a single high-speed bounce. It didn't give the officials much chance. The England players and Cappello would have run around cheering regardless of whether it went in or not. If it's even close then they're going to claim it and try to sway the ref.Â
