It's a damn sight harder to judge depth when you're on a level with the ball and you can't see the line. The ball made a single high-speed bounce. It didn't give the officials much chance. The England players and Cappello would have run around cheering regardless of whether it went in or not. If it's even close then they're going to claim it and try to sway the ref.

All the fans knew it was in, the ppl in the dugouts, and the commentators knew it was in 2, it was just the officials that didn't.

That muppet from Fifa; Blatter is holding a press conference tomorrow to discuss the incident. Here's hoping he climbs down off his pedestal and admits he was wrong about goal-line technology.

the linesman was actually looking down the line for a offside and didnt expect a shot. also since he wasnt that close to the corner flag, it wouldve been hard to see round the post.

i still think if it was 2-2 going into HT it might have been a different story the second half. well, the 2 goals would have definetly been avoided and actually england were ready for penalties, “supposedly” banging them in at training which they had to practise every day.

hopefully argentina will kill germany, i dont even think germany are the best team, they just seem to always do well.

The commentators and fans are looking down at the pitch. They can see the line painted on the ground. The guys in the English dugout would have claimed it was a goal regardless of where it hit. If it lands close to the line at all then they'll shout goal.

Most people watching it on TV couldn't have been definite of where it landed until they saw the replay and once it was confirmed for them, then they decide they were sure all along.

Refs get fooled by players diving in almost every match played. Is it so hard to believe that a single bounce of a ball fooled them as well? A quick glance to check if there was anyone offside when Lampard kicked the ball is all it would take to miss it.

well evry 1 in my house knew it was in without a replay & the players knew and they’re all honest

Spain vs. Portugal was such a disappointing game..

SO BORING!!

I was expecting it to be a freaking classic, epic game, but it was just garbage playing by both teams imo. Sure, Daivd Villa can shoot well, but that game was so terrible to watch for me.

I need more games like England vs. Germany.. with tons of excitement and great football playing.

I expect Brazil and Nederlands to be a good game, as well with Germany and Argentina.

i thought it was an alright game. i wish ronaldo was in the game more though, he just hasnt showed his full potential like most world class players. david villa is brilliant, suspicions of the goal being offside but great play by spain and well deserved. i dunno how busquets was playing over fabregas and david silva though…

Agreed.Very,very boring game.

Spain and Portugal play offencive,attacking and fast football.We saw nothing of that.

Knoxie, your predictions really aren;t going well this year are they 😛

so Brazil are now out, their goes the team i was supporting, guess i'll just watch the final and leave it at that! i would watch the Germany play Argentina because it should be a great match if both teams are on the offensive, but i'll be a bit too busy tomorrow ;D
