yep, France needed a helping HAND to get into the world cup, now they need a helping HAND to get through the group stages! Uraguay & Mexico musn't draw to help France lol
June 18, 2010 at 5:48 pm #62764KnoxieMemberi dont get argentina. they somehow scraped to actually get through the WC qualifiers and most of their goals up to now have been scrappy except heinze's great header.
germany lost 1-0, how ironic?
cant wait for the england match, barry's a certain go (i personally dont think hes needed if we had dawson partnering terry but..) and cappello knows his team. CAAAM ON ENGLAAAAND!
June 18, 2010 at 6:38 pm #62768parnakasMemberGermany lost.
This World Cup is easily the strangest tournament to ever exist.. All the powerhouses are loosing, and the underdogs are taking everyone by surprise.

I really thought Slovenia would win. Damn you, US.
But yeah, you're right. Portugal, Spain… it's not going very well for those teams.
June 18, 2010 at 7:32 pm #62774iiDiNkStErRMemberProbably the only person here that thought Germany would lose that. There 4-0 win didn't interest me at all as, well, Australia aren't the best. The main flaw of the germans is experience, without Ballack, Rolfes or Frings manning the midfield I just don't think they can progress past the quarters. This was also my group of death instead of Brazil's group.
England will easily win tonight and knoxie I agree about Dawson, Carragher? I'd rather play Steven Taylor at CB (that isn't a dig btw ). 3-0 for me Lampard, Heskey & Rooney.
June 18, 2010 at 10:29 pm #62776I773D33MABL3MemberWell England were a masterclass in failure tonight. I've never seen so many misplaced passes and mis-kicked balls. The set pieces were atrocious; I'd say one corner out of about seven got past the first defender.
Lampard and Terry were geriatric, Rooney seemed allergic to the ball and Gerrard obviously couldn't see the net because he never seemed to want to kick the ball towards it.
I think the only player that gave a decent 90 min was Heskey. He was the only player that actively sought the ball and possessed any bit of dynamism.
Barry had a good first half but I actually thought he'd been taken off in the second because he just faded into the background.
June 18, 2010 at 10:50 pm #62777monkeymoobsMemberEngland were bloody awful with the exception of Heskey and Lennon who for some stupid reason got subbed Defoe was alright after he came on too but big names like Rooney especially and Gerrard and Lampard were not on form but all hope is not gone we can still top the table if we put our act together and hammer slovakia
June 19, 2010 at 12:02 am #62778ScottSummers1MemberGermany Argentina final. Come on Higuain!

haha, i really hope you didnt do that! :L
anyways what a shit game, it seriously did my head in watching england playing that poor. players/positions/formations were all wrong. he put james in goal and didnt even give green another chance which was harsh, gerrard LM which was retarded as he cant influence the game as much, and although i think heskey is doing well, i still wouldve preffered defoe to start. everyone seemed to be 'trying to hard' and some just didnt put the effort in at all e.g johnson. lennon didnt get into the game at all, and SWP showed that he can actually make a difference and actually run at the defence. 4-4-2 was a pile of shite, i wouldve played 4-5-1.
green
johnson dawson terry a.cole
lennon lampard barry milner
gerrard
rooney
and i wouldve brought j.cole on first if i needed to because hes always active.
i just hope capello can take some of the pressure off the squad and get the best out of them for the slovenia game.
June 19, 2010 at 5:32 pm #62787ScottSummers1MemberTbh, Capello should have brought:
Walcott instead of Lennon,
Dawson instead of King,
and Bent instead of Heskey.
I would play 4-3-1-2
Green
Johnson, Dawson, Terry, A.Cole
J. Cole, Lampard, Milner
Gerrard
Rooney, Bent
Probably wouldnt work but that's what I'd do lol.

1. he took dawson and king so that isnt much of a problem.
2. walcott showed how much of a gamble he would have been to take. he is really inconsistant and his crosses are generally poor. the difference between his and j.coles crosses was evident to all.
3. as much as i agree about the 'bent over heskey', i dont think bent would work well with rooney and they just havent had enough matches together. ironic as it is heskey is probably playing the best as well atm.
4. hmm i do like that formation, but i cant see lampard being the 'holding midfielder'. thats why i put barry in even though i did want j.cole in the team.
June 20, 2010 at 6:34 pm #62789kingofgames73MemberOr they could try dropping Rooney out of the team instead, remind me, what did he do in the last match? over than make sarcastic remarks of the audience at the end…..
Don't get me wrong he's a great player, but is he playing great at the moment?
June 20, 2010 at 10:39 pm #62790Gashead-64Memberbeen away so reply is late but… here it is…. just because Germany beat Australia ooohh wow, ppl started saying they wud win it well im glad Serbia won
June 20, 2010 at 11:04 pm #62791I773D33MABL3MemberBrazil – 3/Ivory Coast – 1
Not a bad game but my early optimism about the standard of refereeing in the tournament is wilting a bit.
Two fouls by the Ivory Coast warranted sending off: unpunished
Two hand balls in second Brazil goal: allowed
Keita runs into Kaka (who is standing still): Kaka sent off
Every game seems to bring new calls for video refs. Fifa need to pull their heads out of their arses and implement it soon.
Just ask Klose…
