@KoG – I actually have that Animals album on Vinyl.. I really don't like Pink Floyd, but the album artwork is cool so w.e lol I always feel that most of their long songs are just un-inspired and boring. idk thats probably just me. Don't get me wrong, I love a 17-minute epic song, I could never just get into Floyd. Gilmour is an extremely overrated guitarist imo.

hehe, i won't bite your cock off for having an opinion, however i feel `un-inspired` is possibly the wrong word, as seeing some of these pop songs hogging the charts where the singers are more there for the money and paparazzi than the actual music, in my opinion, are un-inspired.

Well yea the pop songs are definitely un-inspired!

Maybe un-inspired was the wrong word, but what I was trying to get across is that most of their long sections are not necessary, as they really serve no purpose to the song itself.. sorry if that doesn't make sense. Those parts can be somewhat interesting, but they really don't contribute anything towards the song. No purpose for them.

Anywho…

Broken English – Mars Volta.

This is possibly a new song that was performed by them at a show in October of this year.. not sure if thats what its called, but that seems to be the name given to it as of right now.

And some Avenged Sevenfold. A few of my mates saw A7X in Brighton Sunday night. It was sweet apparently.

Gah, i need to go see some bands! I haven't been for a while.

I'm guessing most of you, bar the obvious, have been to a few gigs. Who was your favourite and why? And your worst? (if you have one)

I went to see iglu and hartly early this year (you'd know 'in this city' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUF-IlF1UW0) and they were my best gig ever. It was in a tiny venue in Brighton but it was the most epic ever. There was about 100 people in the upstairs of a pub, and it was so hot and sweaty but amazing. In between songs, the lead singer asked, 'So, what do you guys do on the beach here?' I shouted out, 'Fcuk!', natch. The band p!ssed themselves. I felt pretty proud.

My worst is probably a gig I went to with my girlfriend. It was BoysLikeGirls gig, not my choice hers. Some guy was being all drunk, I guess, right in front of us. He came tumbling into both of us, so I took most of the weight of this guy and then made sure my girlfriend was alright with our friends. I weaved through the masses until I got to the guy and his mates, and when I got there he was all laughing at me saying how much of a pussy I was to walk away from the crowds. So I smacked him straight in the face and just stood there and watched him walk off! Tw@t! Bear in mind this was all happening while the band was playing, so we were surrounded by jumping teenagers mostly. The band didn't seem to care though, lol.

Best gig I ever went to was a DVD recording for Primordial (I have a copy; you see my face once and my hand twice. ). It was a small venue, I was right up the front and the band were unreal. Their vocalist has one of the most commanding presences I've ever seen on a stage. He looks like he should be leading an army, not four hairy dudes with instruments. ]

My worst gig was the second time I went to see Opeth. The crowd were shit. They seemed more interested in getting high than listening to the music and I had to spend most of my time avoiding the thrashing limbs of glassy-eyed vermin.

The gig wasn't a total loss. One of the support bands were The Ocean. I'd never heard of them but they were awesome. I totally forgot to ever look up any of their stuff but recently I came across an article about them telling how they'd been on tour in Europe and were stopped by fake police and had €6000 of merch money stolen. That is enough to kill a small band like them so they were giving the option of donating an extra fiver whenever you buy their new album from their website.

So I thought why not? I'll finally pick up some music by a great band and contribute to getting them back on the road. My fiver also gets me a copy of the police report and a thank you card signed by the whole band!
