Accidentally, because my sister was blasting it earlier,
JESSIE J. Yeah, it's probably the worst thing to crawl from the gutters of chavdom for a long time.
I can't stand the charts and mainstream music. Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Tinchy Strider, TINIE TEMPAH (seriously…ugh…), Dizzee Rascal (He gained points for coming on PS Home that time though) various other 'rap' artists, N-DUBZ (oh my god please, somebody kill them all) and so many others. The only thing I like is anything different that gets into the charts. Like when Rage Against got Christmas number one in '09, that was a good time even though Rage against aren't my favourite. And also, that Ellie Goulding's cover of Your Song was alright. That's all though. Seriously, where has good music gone. Auto tune? What the dick is that?! Sing the song, don't get a bloody computer to do it! I don't give a shit about the 'times we're living in'. It's no excuse for this junk on the radio. I'm 17, bear in mind. There's not many people like me that enjoy Led Zepplin over todays music. Or The Beatles, or anything else good.
Why am I ranting, it's half eleven on a thursday night and I have a full day of sixth form tomorrow. Gross. On the way I shall listen to some Good Charlotte and perhaps some more Jamie T.
Anyway, uh, there you go, a small, sleepily put together and spontaneous rant about useless British music.

I agree with all of that I blame the assholes who run the record companies they want maximum profit with minimal input so they find some good looking kid teenager girls will get wet over and autotune their voice beyond recognition and what ever happened to bands all the ones that get airplay now suck too many jerkoffs chucking a few simple chords together to get pussy. Music is all about Sex and Money nowadays such a shame.

Led Zeppelin***
Also, I'm with you on everything you said. Mainstream music sucks. However, there are A LOT of great bands out there currently, you just got to dig deeper to find them.
Jack Johnson – Sleep Through The Static
The Giraffes – Done
The Giraffes are a great example of an incredible modern day band. Love em so much! Very unknown though.
January 21, 2011 at 1:59 am #68766I773D33MABL3MemberMan, you were going so well with that rant, mirroring my own thinking and then you had to let the side down by mentioning Good Charlotte, a hair-product covered anti-climax!
But those berks aside, I understand where you're coming from. Modern music is an industry and like any industry the guys at the top don't want to hear something new or different, they're only interested in the tried and tested formula that makes money. Minimum risk for maximum reward. The result of that being a total lack of originality or creativity.
Mainstream music is almost entirely empty and flat, a song will be played non-stop for months and then never heard of again because it means nothing. Yourself and Parn are fans of Led Zeppelin and you know that twenty years from now you'll still be fans because proper music never gets old.
Most of what I listen to is obscure extreme metal. It's not for everyone, but I love the fact that when I throw on an album I'm listening to something that a band invested a part of themselves in. And that comes across in every note.
January 21, 2011 at 2:10 am #68767NinjacatMemberSorry, it's late! That was a genuine mistake, honest.
Anyway, I'm off for sleep now. See you guys tomorrow for some LBP2 hooooooray!
EDIT:
Sorry! It's the old Good Charlotte stuff, not the new crap, if that makes a difference.

Nothing against you man, just links in with my rant (sort of),
I hate it when people describe songs as 'tunes'. For example:
Guy 1:Have you heard Kangay West's new song?
Guy 2: Yeah, it's a tune!
It just makes me think, 'Well, of course it's a tune, it's a bloody song. A song without a tune, is just a bunch of words.' Though in today's 'music' scene, they barely use words anymore. Not proper English anyway.

Pink Floyd explained it very well one point in one of their best songs (have a cigar) `and did we tell you the name of the game boy? we call it riding the gravy train` that whole song picks holes at the music industry.
Can't stand 99.9% of modern stuff either (as you may have guessed), i'd much rather led zeppelin, pink floyd, cat stevens, the who, rolling stones etc etc.
oh and;
