I would call myself an awesome gamer if it were true lol. Seriously though being a business owner gives me a lot of free time and i just love games. It ain’t about trophies or who’s better it’s about having fun either with a group of mates at home or jumping online and meeting some new people. So i would call myself a hardcore gamer with the proper meaning and not the one trophy whore’s use.
sorry miiiitch but coryalan and i want to ask you about leisure suite larry the game. i know that it got a bad review but we just wanted to know if you enjoyed the game r is it not worth buying

what i think is hardcore gamers are people who get a game and play non-stop to 3 in the morning to finish it / thats my opinion and thats what i did with killzone2
i think hardcore gamers are people who play videogames as their life, maybe even for a living, and participate in world wide tournaments at MLG or something..
I’d disagree simply because i enter tournaments all the time, that doesn’t mean i have no life though. i run a successful business, i spend time with the fiancé, i’m a amateur kicboxer and i have time to do allthis and play a huge amount of games. So yeah i’m a hardcore gamer and i have a life as well
June 25, 2009 at 1:15 pm #28982gow2rulesMemberfriend sent this definition of a hardcore gamer so don't get angry if he copied it from some site but it is a pretty good definition
Who is a Hardcore Gamer?
Hardcore gamers are a highly misunderstood community of people worldwide who have been the main driving force behind the entire gaming industry. A hardcore gamer is usually a male, between 14 – 34 years of age who has gaming in their top priority list, for example, someone who would prefer to play a game instead of sleeping at night or watching TV. Basically a game addict. With a very high technical knowledge on computer, console hardware and the whole computer industry in general, they keep up-to date with the latest technological advancements. Many are financially independent and make purchasing decisions themselves.
One of their main characteristics is that they usually play a large number of games per year that could very well be over a 100 games. Therefore, hardcore gamers don’t always buy their games, they do copy and share. If not, there would be no real hardcore gaming community to speak of. However they contribute to a large share of game purchases. While playing all the latest games that are released, they substantially contribute to the hardware industry as they upgrade their computer and console systems very regularly to meet the high hardware requirements of the new games that are released. As the trendsetters in the gaming industry, these elite gamers are so focused on gaming that some end up being game developers themselves.
In comparison, a regular gamer is someone who would play a game occasionally to entertain him/her self. The age group is varied, ranging from kids to seniors. Mainly being kids whose purchasing decisions are based on their parent’s willingness to purchase games for their child. Obviously, most parents don’t encourage their children to play PC or console games. Therefore they usually play very few games per year and their computer or console systems rarely get updated. Usually, they are not game enthusiasts and do not contribute significantly to the industry.

I never people who play games for a living AND enter tournaments can be considered hardcore. If you do BOTH of those things, then i consider you hardcore, but you only do tournaments, not play games for a living.

i agree. what casual gamers would be a member of a ps3 trophy website
June 25, 2009 at 9:51 pm #29028CoryAllenMemberthank you ben!!!! i'm glad someone agrees with me!!! everyone has a really strong idea for a hardcore gamer but most likely everyone on here is one!
June 26, 2009 at 1:28 am #29046shadeblackParticipantokay… this is a simple question.
think of your most favourite game in the world.
got it? …okay!
Now, how many hours could you spend in one sitting playing that game without a break?
if your answer is over 8 hours, then you're definitely not a casual gamer.
many doctors believe that you should play games for 8 hours a WEEK! Myself however, can easily play a game for 8-10 hours a day.
let's not forget that there is a fine line between addicted and hardcore.
June 26, 2009 at 1:46 am #29047CoryAllenMemberthere ya go!! see parnakas you don't have to play tournaments and stuff to be a hardcore gamer. i play just about any game over 8 hours a day and i don't do tournaments but i certainly classify myself as a hardcore gamer. i can't believe doctors think 8 hours a week is ok lol.
and shade i don't really think there's a line at all between the definition of hardcore and addicted. they're almost the exact same lol
June 26, 2009 at 6:27 pm #29096Ps3 FreakMember8hrs a week what a joke !!! thats approx 1hr 10mins a day lmfao !
June 27, 2009 at 10:19 am #29130shadeblackParticipanthey if any of you play world of warcraft, you'll definitely know what im saying lol.
Yeah i say there's a fine line between addicted and hardcore simply because it's a comparison to the genius/insane scenario.
playing a game for 8 hours at a time can get you very far along in the game, but is it not considered insane so to play so long sometimes? you can at least see where the comparison i made stems from.
