my friend has a 360 and spends most of his time seaching about the console [which i think is dumb cause i would be seaching about the games not the console!] anyway he said x360 will have a ble ray player is that true? the games will be in blue ray like on ps3?
February 11, 2009 at 12:05 am #21140shadeblackParticipantsince HD DVD lost the format war, it's possible, but i don't think so because then everyone who owns an xbox360 would have to buy the disk drive.
February 11, 2009 at 12:06 am #21141KILLER369MemberNEVER!.
3shity havnt got the capacity to withstand blue ray discs (i dnt think) but enyway blue ray was licensed or sumin by sony so if Xbox get blue ray discs then sony are eligible to sue microsoft. or sumin similar im not 100% why microsoft cant have blue ray. but i am 100% that they cantFebruary 11, 2009 at 12:16 am #21142Hurley48Memberwell not so sure but i think my friend is one of those fanboys he talks everyday about how good xbox is and telling me to sell my ps3 to guess what buy an x360! still though thinking well is only gonna worse what the xbox already is since blue ray is sony's she is going to have more money and is going to help the ps3 and if KILLER369 is right they are gonna to make another hardware to support the new player and like shadeblack said besisdes having to buy another x360 since is a new hardware might RROD all over again! since in both consoles the first unitys have more troubles then those made now x360 would fucked up.
February 11, 2009 at 12:22 am #21143edge4eva32MemberActually it is VERY possible for Microsoft to produce a blu ray player for their Xbox 360 console system. The chipset on the 360 is capable of handling the workload that a blu ray drive requires. It is very similar to the HD DVD, but simply a different format. Sony is the “head” creator of the whole blu ray concept. However, Sony has no grounds for any civil lawsuit against Microsoft if MS would produce a blu ray player. MS would simply enter into a licensing sharing agreement with Sony (good idea on Sony's part to accept to increase profits) to produce such a drive for the Xbox 360. If Sony sues MS, then they would legally have to file lawsuits against Samsung, Toshiba, LG, Panasonic, and other electronic manufacturers against copyright infringement for producing blu ray players. That would kill Sony completely in a very competitive sales field already. The only reason that I know this information is because I have a relative that is a patent attorney in the Tampa Bay area, and a cousin that works for Microsoft.
February 11, 2009 at 12:26 am #21144Hurley48Membervery intersting edge4eva32 so MS can actually win if Sony don't wake up we're screwed….

No we won't be screwed at all. It would make sense for Sony to share some rights. Maybe make a little profit off the sales of others. it would just be a wise business choice. both companies do the same types of agreements with video game makers to release games on both consoles.
February 11, 2009 at 1:19 am #21146Hurley48Memberoh thats good news! that would make top line games fairly 4 both consoles since they will be very similar that would be a battle won in console wars maybe that would calm things down or just got worst since everybody is only trying to make money even more with the crisis.
February 11, 2009 at 3:29 am #21147parnakasMemberi dont think 360 will get blu-ray. The chip inside 360 does NOT have the power to handle blu-ray. There could be an external drive for it though.
However, the next XBOX has a better chance of having it.
I’ve heard this story a million times…. xbots say how stupid blu-ray is, then they love it when 360 is supposed to get blu-ray , then they hate it again after MS denies it. Its quite amusing lolFebruary 11, 2009 at 9:00 am #21149gamerbenMemberITS possibble that the x720 might, out next year

hahaha nice one really seens amusing and my friend is a little “fantasious” you know he still think they will make MGS4 for x360 BTW i hate the fact that this game don't have trophies >:(
February 11, 2009 at 7:24 pm #21153Doctor_RockMemberyou know he still think they will make MGS4 for x360
Well, they can. They're bound to be able to fit it on 12 Discs.

that would be correct in some way..Dual Layer HD-DVD is 8GB…Dual-Layer Blu-Ray Disc is 50GB..that would be 6 DL DVDs and 1 Standard DVD..it's PSone all over again when that happens lol..and if i remembered correctly, Hideo Kojima is loyal to Playstation and I don't think he will just sell his masterpiece to Microsoft..
February 11, 2009 at 9:00 pm #21155shadeblackParticipantno it isn't.
HD DVD – Single layer is 15GB, Dual layer is 30GB.
Blu-Ray – Single layer is 35GB, Dual layer is 50GB.
Another main difference of course are codecs. Although HD DVD and blu-Ray are similarly controlled, blu–ray has the slight upper hand.
HD DVD – VC-1, H.264, and MPEG-2
Blu-Ray – VC-1, H.264, AVC, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4
Also the read speeds on Blu-ray are much faster:
HD DVD – 2x @ 72 Mbps
Blu-Ray – 12× @ 432 Mbps
So… can xbox360 have a blu-ray drive. YES! but it's not plausible to have it by default. it would be a new external add on. then the gamers would have a choice between DVD games, or blu-ray games. with the noticable improvement to blu-ray, it wouldn't be long until they'd discontinue the use of DVD games. when that happens, it's possible we'd be on the next generation of Microsoft's console.
