Here are my ideas in progress; Post all comments you have! I plan to edit this when I get more time!
Characters: Characters would be found in different spots in different saves, and if they die, they could be gone for good. You could still save them with a so called “Miracle Cure” you get at the end of the game. This cures dead humans that still have not turned to Zombies. All characters are part of an experiment, a cure for the simple common cold through the bloodstream. The cure killed off certain people with some sort of blood type and made people with that blood type immune. There would be a total of ~30 people you could have, but only 7 are usable in each play-through (multiple play-throughs, more characters)
Each character has:
HP: Health. Heals very slowly over time.
Automatic Guns: Machine Guns-etc
Pistols: Glock-etc
Melee weapons: Butcher knifes, dismembered body parts…. you name it!
Explosives: Grenades, Rocket Launchers Etc.
Other Weapons: Sniper Rifle, Pyro weapons Etc.
“Cartography”- A character from one town with you makes the map automaticly explored. Before the rampage, they lived there!
“Fear Rating”- Fear is a bar that raises during longer zombie attacks. When it reaches its maximum, it is either REALLY BAD, or really good. They could get hallucinations, get sick, become fearful and nor be able to do a basic attack. The low chance of the really good gives them a full “Adrenaline” bar.
“Adrenaline” bar- Adrenaline bar is filled when a character gets alot of kills, or helps the team. Some characters might not get as many kills, but still help the team (planning/searching)
Speed: The speed at which this character can run from zombies, faster characters make better searchers/messengers.
Strength: How much supplies this character can hold at any amount of times.
CHARACTERS:
Through any play through, at least one of each special character class will be found (engineer, gunner, strategist, scout)
You: Your character is customizable, stats and all. The specials for your main character are customizable from a wide list.
Kenshin: A younger male adult, proficient with large blades. Special works only with melee weapons, and does multiple one hit knockbacks for a short period of time.
Richard: Ex-army general. Not very mobile for he is in a wheel chair. Suprisingly terrible aim, but an upgraded mapping system. He can predict where zombies are coming from if you have a map of an area. Special causes all ally moral to go up.
Dillon: An army enthusiast kid still in his teens. He is very good with his pistols. His special gives him increased speed for a limited time.
Patrick: A college teen who was at the university where the experiment was conducted. A great sniper. Special allows him to take some pain, and conduct some electricity into his infrared goggles.
Linda: Pyrotechnics anyone? She is one bad apple, and specializes in building explosive weaponry. She can combine items, creating homemade batteries, guns, etc. Her special allows her to bring back her Spanish origin and read her Spanish book for a while. All her special does is let her read a book? A book with many possible combinations of weapons that you wouldn't think of.
Bruce: A guy that is great with a flamethrower. He is also “the brute” and can hold lots of equipment at anyone time. Great for traveling with, great for fighting outside your house. But don't let him get careless inside the shelter.
Nora: She is the nice character. She isn't a ho. She is very strong with a shotgun, and also has some talent with automatic weapons. Her special allows her to see where the most strong, zombie killing shot would be at any given time. Really helpful in tight situations.
Just a limited list till I finish my complete one.
Zombies; The zombies in this game are not bright. None are. If you stay in the same spot, they wont find you unless you give them evidence. Leaving a pile of dead bodies in your lawn isn't going to help. Tangoing in the light by the window isn't helping either. Sitting on the ground silent will.
Normal: Duh.
Daywalkers: Very few of these. Slow but silent zombies that can take you from suprise.
Giants: Almost like a football player zombie. Much more health than a normal zombie.
Adapters: They adapt to your tactics. If you ransack lots of cars, the will spend time waiting in cars. They will attack your main camp at night, and if no one is there, then they will hide till you return; etc.
Gliders: In large cities, they can jump out of windows (which often gives you a warning crash) and then glide down with there terribly ripped skin.
More Zombie Types in Full Draft.
Shelters
Any shelter can be made safer using items you found during the day. If you ransacked a car, and you removed scrap metal, then you could “board” up windows from zombies. There are many shelves in most good shelters. The power in this game is still up, so automatic doors still work, lights still turn on, the whole deal. Some characters are experts in traps and can lay traps to prevent zombies from invading your shelter. Others can cut the power in other places, or create “distraction shelters.” Hotwiring lights can also get some zombies out of a wanted shelter, but expect the zombies to return off of instinct.
EXPECT MORE LATER!
Collection
Items can be found just like in the real world, except many places are already ransacked. You can always go through neighbor hoods, and ransack houses, but zombies may be on your trail at night. Some items may seem useless at first, but some special engineer characters can combine to make special weapons.
Mixing items is not limited to engineer characters. Obviously, any character can mix a sleeping pill with water for a fearful, tired character, but engineer characters can make many harder combinations.
Options
Difficulty: Daywalker, Normal, Glider, Adapter, Phoenix, Titan.
Version: Campaign, Survival Solo, Survival Team, Online Survival, Missions

October 14, 2009 at 4:31 am #46133xxKnightmarExxMemberThats pretty good, ive been writing away at a random game that I thought of for a while now but I dont think I have the time to type and publish it like this. Good work.
October 14, 2009 at 4:58 am #46137dgaustin1MemberThank you very much! Im still working on it, and I am working with a group of flash developers to make a very rough beta version. If anyone has any character Ideas, I am open.
October 14, 2009 at 5:15 am #46138xxKnightmarExxMemberHow is the game going to play? Is it all about survival or story and is it in 1st or 3rd person perspective?
October 14, 2009 at 7:45 am #46150x_D3adk0wn_xMemberthis is all well and good but unless you start your own game company and produce it yourself its pretty much as far as its going to go once the flash one is done.. most (i say most to be safe) game companies will not even accept pitches for games that come from non hired personnel simply due to liability and royalty reasons, they will send you a non disclosure form if you send them an idea.. this pretty much will state that the company agrees not to share your idea with anyone else. And As a part of giving the company your idea you agree that you will not sue them if any of their products are ever similar to your given idea ..this is not guaranteed of course, but it takes a lot to get noticed and for them to come to you, which is usually how it has to happen
back in 1994-95 my cousin and i sat down and wrote out a quite lengthy outline and detail list for a game idea that we had, complete with sketches and everything, and we did try and contact gaming companies to pitch it.. we pretty much got the same reply every time from the written letters we were sending (email wasnt so mainstream and available back when i was a youngin)… their replies were mostly about how they cannot accept game ideas and not to send the paperwork to them..
believe it or not years later, pretty much the exact game came out.. there were a few differences, it was in sort of a top down 2d, and you couldnt customize your cars like we wanted.. but it was definitely 90% of what we had planned, and we had sent a letter to a company, and they rejected our offer to send the idea.. that company DMA.. the game: Grand theft auto..
wtf right?! and had the companies actually agreed to read the idea and pitch, they would have had to pay royalties on that regardless of whether or not they used the idea or got it from someone else down the road.. we would have had proof that they accepted OUR idea and then the game came out..
i'm sorry to be a downer, but they hire people to make ideas, or seek out fresh ideas themselves.. but for some positive advice.. i'd go flash and make it damn good.. get it on a well known site like newgrounds and pay what they will take to have it on banners and stuff to get some buzz about it.. then hope for the best.. look at what happened to Thatgame company and flOw, and Behemouth and Alien Hominid and Castle crashers (#1 selling game on XBLA still, i think)
sorry for writing a book here.. lol..
good luck
October 14, 2009 at 8:58 am #46152xxKnightmarExxMemberAre you serious!?! You came up with the idea for GTA?!
October 14, 2009 at 10:35 am #46158Domba_carMemberI would buy this game, can you really make a PS3 beta? The idea is nice but its alot of work(took me a week to complete a 2D game called BEAR. I'm doing a sequal, BEAR FINDS A GUN)
@x_D3adkl0wn_x Are you saying that you and your cousine came up with the idea of GTA? If you did why aren't you rich? Or are you?

lol no, i said i came up with an idea in 1995 for a game that was very similar to gta.. and had DMA heard anything about the idea they would have had to pay me because i would have most definitely sued.. lol
it happens all the time, the amount of original ideas in the world is surprisingly small
October 14, 2009 at 11:16 pm #46245dgaustin1MemberWow, great story. Sorry that it turned out that way. 🙁
The beta is a flash game, and i don't think it will ever get past that (if it even gets there)
I was just making an ideal game for me.
Continuing to your comments.
It will have a story mode AND a survival mode. I am writing a story mode right now.
It will be first person or third person, based off your preferences. In third person, you get a dot showing were your gun will shoot (approx). In first person, you only have the aimer from your gun. You can also go into quickFP which lets you shoot in first person, but explore in 3rd.
October 14, 2009 at 11:35 pm #46248x_D3adk0wn_xMemberheh, you and me both.. i could've been a rich man.. haha..
one thing that has always bothered me about games with zombies is that they rarely ever make the zombies traditional.. non of this thinking running zombies with guns crap.. i do see that you have some variety in your enemy outlines, and that is purely you're own decision of course.. i just think that the world needs a “realistic” zombie survival game to remind them that zombies were damn creepy and scary BEFORE the coming of the new zombie trends..
for some ideas i would suggest reading the zombie survival guide by Max Brooks if you havent already.. it would definitely give you some insight into the way of the zombie as he has written it about tarditional zombies and what to do to survive..
October 15, 2009 at 1:16 am #46261dgaustin1MemberThats funny how you mention that book, as I have checked it out from *My Local Library* and now have to read it. These zombies are mainly normal. I agree that gun crap is retarded. The only specail zombie types use mild mutations for their extra powers. The only ones that arent like this are the bosses, which are people who also were in the experiment you were.
Heres another little preview to the gameplay.
I remember the day they initialized our vaccines. 40 of us, 20 male, and 20 females. All of us were in relatively good shape. When they took our blood samples, I followed the doctors into the lab. They showed me how my blood reacted to the cure. The infected my blood, and a single drop of a sample virus. My blood cleared up instantly, but let off a putrid smell. Turning away to cough, I noticed the other blood samples of patients on a rack. Another scientist repeated the same experiment I just saw with another blood sample. The blood turned black quickly, and then started pulsing. He placed it down on a table, where there were multiple slates that had the exact same reaction. This is when I was being dragged out of the room. I worried what would happen to us. I wondered why my blood didn't turn black. I then passed out.
October 15, 2009 at 5:51 am #46291xxKnightmarExxMemberThat sounds good man, but it always seems to be an experiment of some sort that creates zombies. Maybe you could bring in a curse or something like Uncharted does…only leave out the El Dorado part..and the Spaniards too…
October 15, 2009 at 5:55 am #46292xxKnightmarExxMemberAlso for your trophies My Bullet is Red and Does this shoot any slower you said that they are both for pitols..I'm guessing that the second trophy is for shotguns….
I really hope that this works out for you, it would be cool to see it pop up on the playstation store one day!!

October 19, 2009 at 11:02 pm #46875ideal4livingMemberideas for flash developers… see if you can contact the guys who made mirrors edge 2d or the infamous flash game, they are always good, btw this game sound awesome and some nice trophies, will there be DLC for this game? and if so will it mean more trophies 😛
