Tool. Always Tool.
AGENT_P6MemberBOO!
AGENT_P6Memberwell, with my insane triple monitor setup (got a second monitor for xmas and decided to buy a 3rd for boxing day) I've been a PC snob over the holidays
Turns out a good 1/3 of my Steam games support 5760×1080 resolution, and my graphics card can keep up if I turn the settings down to medium or even low for the hardcore games like witcher 2, crysis, metro and battlefield 3. Despite all that fanciness tho, I spent most of my time playing the 1998 hit, Half Life 1. I LOVE VALVE!
Soon I'll be getting back on my PS3 to run some Dead Nation if Scotty is still up for it, and I'm really really really really really really really looking forward to experiencing the graphical and RPG nerdgasm of Final Fantasy 13-2
Here's some pics of my monitors
AGENT_P6MemberWell I roll like a boss with web design, so maybe later in the new year, if this site seems to coast further downhill – or dare I say it: discontinues – I might just have to start up my own and invite y'all over 😉
AGENT_P6MemberEPIC 2 YEAR OLD THREAD RESURRECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hehe
I want to give this game a good go with a partner that will stick around for the whole campaign. Any of u guys interested? It will be from start to finish on any difficulty in order to obtain the coop trophy (maybe medium difficulty since I'm not well versed in this game) and then I also need the one bronze trophy where we complete a mission without dying
AGENT_P6MemberI still hold him accountable. Even though it stars Raiden, it shouldn't have Metal Gear anywhere on the title, and if Hideo said “Metal Gear shall not be on the title” then indeed Metal Gear would definitely not be on the title.
I bet the game is pretty decent for its genre. In fact I would probably buy it and really enjoy it as a hack and slash. But its the title that really gets me. Like if it was simply called “Raiden's Revengeance” or something like that, a lot of the Metal Gear fans would gripe a little less. Don't get me wrong, there's still reason to gripe since its an MGS character in a hack n slash, but I think we would gripe less because the title would let us know that this isn't the next chapter of Metal Gear per se.
Put bluntly, I think they rode the popularity of the “Metal Gear” title as a means to sell more units of the game. They wouldn't get similar sales if the title didn't say Metal Gear, even if it says Hideo Kojima. That was their mistake IMO. They basically sold out on their MGS fans by using the MGS title to sell copies of a game that aren't MGS in heart and soul.
Now there is the argument that Raiden is not Snake. Snake shoots and performs CQC in a jam. Raiden is by nature of his character and backstory, a hacker and slasher. So therefore it only makes sense really to make a game starring Raiden a hack and slash. And there may be the argument that despite genre, the story of MG is in this game (yet to be proven). I think even if this is true, the nature of this game ruins what I percieve to be the heart and soul of MG. I percieve MG to be a deep theme about the monstrosity of war, politicians, and of course how they are molded by “the times” as Boss used to always say. As a result, during my playthroughs of Metal Gear, I felt like Hideo's vision was to teach peace instead of war. From the dialogue in the cutscenes down to the simple fact that nonlethal measures such as a tranq gun were wiser to use than lethal measures made me feel like the underlying message was that of peace. I know I'm getting a little philosophical about it all but its truly what I thought as I played the game.
Now fast forward to this hack and slash. If my hunch about Hideo's message and vision is indeed accurate, and said message is such an important underlying piece of his vision, then it should be a fairly obvious that Revengeance cannot achieve this message of peace. It is simply too brutal and violent. (I don't mind violent games, just saying it belies the soul of the series in this instance). They glorify the act of slicing enemies into scores of pieces by making it the heart of the game engine; that super-cool slo-mo that was the hub of content for all the trailers we've seen.
And aside from that, sorry to say but Raiden is not even in the same galaxy of “badass” that Snake is. Sure he can mess some things up, but Snake has way too much character. They can't let Snake die. If he does die, than they must make prequels so his character lives on and continues to be that amazing hero to us that he is.

Thanks Agent_P6 for at least joining the forums, even if you aren't around every single day
Yea lately I've been working like a champ on learning java programming. I'm not making enough money in life and I feel like I can't get ahead, so I decided to pick up programming. My main goal at the moment is to get at least one app on the google play store so that I can make a little cash on the side. My more long term goal is to make an actual game for google play. (I'd make apple apps too if I had a mac…without a mac you can't make apple apps)
As a result I've barely had any time for video games or basically anything that isn't programming. And its a tough subject lemme tell ya! Once I get an app on the store though and feel like I've made a significant accomplishment, I'll probably allow myself a little more time for fun.
December 14, 2012 at 11:22 pm in reply to: How can i record my PS3 game play without using a dazzle or PVR? #72585AGENT_P6MemberThere really is no other way that I know of. Your only other option would be to prop up a video camera in front of your TV and record that way. This can be a pain to set up and will provide bad quality video. Christmas is around the corner…maybe you can nudge Santa to hook you up!
AGENT_P6Member🙁 RE6. Anything after Code Veronica was increasingly sketchy IMO. Well…to be fair RE4 was enjoyable…a good example of how the style change could still be successful as long as the soul of the franchise was still there.
Then RE5 lost it, and O:RC lost it more, and the reviews say RE6 lost it even more but I haven't played the last one.
As for me, I've been super busy and haven't been able to game much, but I did manage to beat a few campaigns in Batman. I'm stuck at the one in Mr.Freeze's area…can't recall the name of the campaign but its the “extreme” one, and the modifiers are making this one predator mission impossible!
Gr8jrfan be sure to gloat here when you get all your Metal Gear plats 😀 I absolutely love Metal Gear.
AGENT_P6Member@Kriggs: Yea that was a brutal trophy to get. Farming for those ingots was a real pain. Its a complicated enough trophy as it is with all of the different types of accessories. Some I think are missable or only one other upgraded accessory can be disassembled to produce what you need. Its definitely a trophy you need to have a really good guide for and have to make sure you keep a really good eye on that guide and check everything off as you go.
That stupid giant cactus was a real pain in the arse without being fully chrystariumed. Then again I think I tried to take him on too early and just got stubborn about trying to defeat him prematurely. I think you get a XMB theme for unlocking that trophy tho…maybe a bit of incentive to give another go 😉
AGENT_P6MemberWell the list for me would be way too long to list
I'll say the one that almost got away was Dead Space 2 Hardcore mode. Man it was so insanely frustrating getting that trophy…if any of you don't know about it, its defeat the game on the *2nd* hardest difficulty (the general consensus is that the enemies are just one step down from the hardest difficulty) with only 3 saves for the entire game.
I wake up at 6:45am, start work at 8:00am, get home at 5:00pm, and by the time I get some tidying up done and eat dinner, its like 7:00pm. That leaves me about 4 or 5 hours of time to myself…getting this trophy meant I had to go for the gusto and spend all my free time trying to make it far enough where I could feel justified in using up one of my saves. Otherwise I would use up all 3 saves in only the first few chapters. So basically it was a given that if I wanted this trophy it would be truly impossible to do so on my own terms…I absolutely had to spend my entire evenings just to get to the next save.
Sooooooooo many times I'd spent like 4 hours through the most nerve wracking moments, knowing that if I die, I go back 4 chapters to my last save and just wasted my entire night for absolutely nothing. And so many times I DID die and boy did I rage! Sometimes I was just too mad to even rage…I'd just sit there and stare at the death-screen wondering what the heck just happened. And most times I would die juuuuuuuuust as I was about to call it a successful night and make my save.
But eventually I managed to buckle down and git er dun.
I'd like to share with you a rage comic I made over this trophy!
AGENT_P6MemberGrinding through some campaign medals in Batman Arkham City.
I haven't played this in a while so I'm a little rusty on the freeflow, and man are those armed thugs ever annoying…especially the ones with the shields cuz they always screw up my combos!
AGENT_P6MemberHey, I just posted in the introduction thread and wanted to pop by here before hittin the sack.
I hope the admin keeps the hosting on this site despite the small numbers.
Having had my own forum before I know it can be tough as an admin. He probably has a job/school etc…maybe even kids. And with all the new games being released, all the gamer news, new trophy lists, etc etc it can feel impossible to keep up with all of it, let alone find time to settle down and enjoy a game himself. So although I'm brand new here, I'd say its probably not that the admin doesn't care; probably just busy and maybe disheartened by the decline in activity, especially when it costs money every year to keep a site up and running. I know with my first gamer website I felt like all I did was just waste my money because I went through all the trouble to set everything up and then barely anyone showed up because I was probably like on page 20 567 on a google search for “ps3 gaming forum”. The only ppl that stopped by were spambots and all they did was piss me off hehe.
AGENT_P6Memberdouble post sorry hehe
