What i'm saying is it's just a rip off to get you to float SONY bank balance…
And as for BBc i-player, I'm from Scotland and it's very much active here… Every Ps3 in the UK is enjoying i-player as we type…
And where is my trophy room in home? That's the only thing I'd use home for, to show off all my (7, lol) Plats… Give us stuff we can use for an actual purpose, not to “jazz” up my Ps3
Doc-BMemberZombie Nation – Zombilicious Album
Electro makes me wet…
Doc-BMemberNo? But at least we can still play pirate games…
Yarg, who'll be me first mate? Man the cannons ya scurvy dogs!!
LMAO, yes i'm sad…
Doc-BMemberAny one whose familiar with home will know all about micro transactions as there called… And it was only a matter of time before this pointless urge to buy stupid, crappy polygons spilt over onto the PSN store… Now this might be an old topic but I've just started posting lately, and there are just some things you have to moan about, eh?
Let's start with dynamic themes – WOW, the screen moves… How long does anyone really spend on there XMB? I switch the beast on and play a game, browse the Internet, watch some films or listen to some music… Non of those things involve me watching the XMB, there cool the first time you see them or when you show a friend but the free wipe-out one did my head in after about 5 min…
Download some music videos, play them and push the PS button on your controller – Hey presto, a free “dynamic theme” you actually like!!
And the premium wallpapers, hello… You can download free HD wallpapers online, jeez…
Who the hell cares about an avatar?? Really?? I only care about how many trophy's' you got…
Non of these things add to the Ps3 experience… Where the hell's the music playback when playing games? Where's the cross game chat? When we getting a new batch of visualisations for the music playback? The schnide box is amazing for visualisations, I've seen all those pictures of earth so many times i could prob draw them all…
C'mon SONY, start giving us the things that'll make the Ps3 a stronger machine… I think the BBC i-players sweet… We need more of that and less of the – Selling stupid crap to us that we don't want or need… Are they trying to blind us with these weak offerings, so we forget about the important things we want?
Doc-BMemberYou need to do that button pressy holdy thing if you change your Ps3 from standard def to HD… It automatically finds the best audio/video output… It's called a “soft start” if i remember correctly
Doc-BMemberCan you achieve full HD on a PC screen? I'm a PC No0b… One thing i love about controller over keyboard is the fact that i can be in almost any position and still have pretty much full control of what I'm doing… Wouldn't you need a solid base to use a keyboard, i mean you can't use a key board upside down (just an example)
Antony19 raises an interesting point kinda, what of more PC orientated MP games coming to the PS3… Do they work? I bought Civ. Rev. when it came out along with a friend, and quite frakly is sucked balls… Glitchy, jerky game-play with an online experience that made you weep, sealing my decision to leave the likes of alone. It seems that the games that are making the move to Ps3 are the sh!t ones… Prob something to do with the diff. computing power?
Half life is a strong game, yet it's almost forgotten… It's a crime it wasn't patched for trophies!! A 5-in-1 deal, superb… Team fortress was fun if a little basic on the looks… I don't think I've played anything like portal in any other game?
More from the PC in the form of battlefield 2142 and crysis… I'm not a RTS player but it sounds like thing's like C&C etc. should stick to the PC…
It's money and greed that all throughout, time have turned everything good into a steaming pile of money spinning crap… I yern for earlier times…
I still love my N64 and Snes, they rock out with there… Well, you know. And they have no online MP at all, the days when you needed real friends…
Doc-BMemberi'd say MW2 ain't the best for offline anyway the SP sucks ass…
Doc-BMemberWasn't the spyro game pulled of the uk PSN cause it didn't work? I got an e-mail saying i had been credited the money back onto my account… Every time you went through a portal the game would freeze… I this back on the UK store or just the US PSN?
January 27, 2010 at 2:32 pm in reply to: How To Fix A Playstation 3 YLOD ( Yellow Light Of Death ) #56314Doc-BMemberThis is a bit underhand and depending on your conscious you might not want to do this, but…
I'd fix it, sell it then buy another one with the money you make of the Ps3 you sold. I'd reckon you'd get a few months from your fixed unit and by that time it won't be your prob if id does break again. I've had 6 Ps3's all with something diff wrong with them, woop, and SONY were still dishing out free exchanges when i got the YLOD. So it wasn't a prob.
There are numerous company's that'll fix your Ps3 now and there also that continuous play insurance you can apply for…
Doc-BMemberIt would make me smile being the no.1 in the world but i also think your list is something to have banter with your mates… As long as i'm no.1 to my friends then the world don't matter.
Impressive regardless of anything… And i doubt there's a great deal to do where he's from, no disrespect… But i've a hundred other thing's to do than play my Ps3 all day and night. I do love a trophy or two though, tasty…
Doc-BMemberI hear what your saying BigWoopMagazine but those are some of the reasons i don't own a Gaming PC… And you need a fair power horse of a PC to pull off all the things you talk off… Much money i don't have… An age spent mapping keys, no thank's… A quick flick of the book and 15min of play time is all i should need to get the hang of a game. A mouse is faster on the draw though.
Ther will always be better PC games, but then again there will always bee new graphics cards, sound cards, Ram etc… More money… The next trick for the Ps3 is 3D gaming. And with dev. teams learning more and more about the Ps3, i think in a year or so we'll see those flips with a bit more yet… Imagine the bosses in a year or so…
MP is a stale format… It's been done to death, there's no new idea's to come. There's no evolving it…
And no one's mentioned the sh!tty trophies… There a grind! And i do like my trophies!!
Doc-BMemberI may be in the few, but i want single player epic's i can finish and forget… You usually have to play a game to get all the trophy's anyway, if the games that good I'll keep it regardless of MP… It's all part of the “bigger is better” and the “more is more” mindset some consumers and developers have…
A L4D style MP on dead space could work, give us a slice of what we're missing… If a game does it's job – like GOW3, then no-one want's a single player even if it is co-op… It's long enough, epic enough, intresting enough and hard enough to give you a feeling of satisfaction that when it's done it's done. You've had your fill and now you can move on. No pissing about with MP.
It is all about money really, and it suck's… Stuff they could easily put on the disc – The Dead Space animated “film”, the upcoming Dante's Inferno animation's, pic's, vid's, diary's etc. – they don't so they can rip you off later…
MP is fast becoming a poor man's extra content…
Doc-BMemberThey could easily implement a cover system into DS2… And Uncharted 2 is a TPS… If they wanted to they could do anything they want to butcher a sequel, people will still buy it if the first was good. I'm sure we've not seen the best MP experience just yet but on the flip-side we surly ain't seen the worst.
And i don't even mean the worst playing MP, I'm talking about the worst use of MP in a game however nice it looks and runs… Adding a no point MP can sometimes ruin the feel you get about a game, and make you think twice about parting with your money. I only played Uncharted 2 because my friend gave me a shot and that was sweet game… The MP was good and the trophy's were the best I've seen – play one co-op game, play one competitive… Ideal in my mind, no get to level 50 pish I've come to expect nowadays…
Good MP will sensible trophies, not ok MP with horrable grind fest 20+ trophy lists…
Doc-BMemberRatchet and clank and ACII are two easy but very enjoyable games… Fallout is just about having the time to play it, and shouldn't be played to the tune of the trophies, it's an epic… Borderlands is good in co-op… And Res. Evil…
Doc-BMember– I don't see how you can say that MP will suit Bioshock 2 but not Dead Space 2? What's the great big diff like? I'd like to see more co-op MP put into games as it's not a giant step away from the single player modes… Uncharted 2 co-op is well done.
It's the competitive modes i dislike, not on all games obviously, just those unsuited to MP… With Res. Evil the MP was DLC meaning they had more time to refine it… More and more i feel the MP experience is just there to steal my time… Stop me from trading my games… I mean doesn't it drive you crazy all the – kill 10000 players, get 1000000xp etc.
The riddick trophies' were a crock of sh!t, the Avp MP not being too far off… And if it's not a popular game you can struggle to even find a match… As Ratchet525 said, make games longer. Don't just slap on a repetitive MP with grind-fest trophies…
Longer more epic game play is the answer, not a dull, repetitive, half-assed attempt at MP!
