MemberWow. I did not ever think I would encounter a “scientific” argument on a video game forum. Now this is different.

Member@Shadeblack: I do remember that the Japanese edition of RE was called Biohazard. I even agree that it sounds like a much better title than Resident Evil. I'll even agree there have been a few of the RE games that have not been so great. I disliked Code Veronica and Nemesis a great deal. However, RE1 and RE2 were hands down the greatest games I have ever played on a Sony console system other than Final Fantasy games. I really wished the RE games would go back to their original puzzle survivor type games. Those were amazing. I did like the laser sighting concept in RE 4 though. That was brilliant. So as loyal and dedicated RE player and fan, I will expect nothing but greatness from this game. I also want this game more than games such as Killzone 2 because I am just bored of FPS games right now. I had played CoD 4 for over hundreds of hours in the past. I still need something new to PS3 to come out that is NOT a FPS game. They get boring very quickly in my opinion.

they have released it. its called playtv i got 1. give sony a break U probably got an older model ps3. models frm 2006 to about march 2008 wernt sonys finest models but theyve fixed all the problems in the newer 1s. they put it on the message boards a while back
Apparently they have not released it here in America yet. Also, my PS3 is only 14 months old, and has already crapped out twice. There are ppl here who have had their ps3's since launch with more play time than mine. Maybe when Sony decides they won't charge my credit card when they get my ps3 in the mail, then I will give them a break, haha. BTW, I got my new samsung blu ray player today
It is totally awesome. My friends and I all have agreed that the display on the blu ray samsung is more quality than the blu ray player in the ps3.

MemberWell the future of the playstation would be very optimistic if I can finally get a blu ray drive for my ps3 that lasts for hundreds of hours of gameplay and an actual calendar year, haha. That and the fact that Sony doesn't lose another 95% of their profits which they posted only 2 days ago.
I also heard they were at one time going to release a TV tuner for the ps3 to watch live tv and then use it as a dvr. that'd be pretty cool i think.

i don't like too overhyped game..it sometimes spells disappointment and the end..not much to see here but another FPS…Im gonna wait out RE5..that is a PROVEN much better game than this..
I completely agree with pobert06. I will “try” to rent Killzone 2, but I doubt i ever buy it due to being another fps. I am also waiting on RE5 too. Hopefully my PS3 will be repaired and mailed back to me before March 13th, haha.

MemberOkay so here is an update.
I contacted Sony again to inform them that I knew they were fixing this problem for free for a lot of people. This time I got a, Jim, from Sony on the phone. He said that I was full of crap and that everyone who says they got it fixed for free out of warranty was a “flat out liar”. So he told me to either cough up the $149 or enjoy staring at my broken PS3.
Needless to say that I got his badge number, and spoke to his supervisor. That went alot better actually. However, I still paid $149 to have it fixed. I informed Sony that if they fix it again, then the new blu ray drive better be factory new and not a refurbished drive. He informed me since I am paying for a replacement that it would be a new drive. Thank God. However, I may not get my original 320gb hdd back since the screw is stripped and cannot be removed. They did that for me back in October and sent me my ps3 back with the new blu ray drive, so that i can get my hdd back.
I am still very irritated at Sony. Please……..samsung….make a console.

yeah it recommend doin it all yourself. or get a friend to help if you're unsure.
Wow shade. We actually have agreed on something for once, haha.
edge4eva32
MemberIt would be easier to do it yourself. It is super easy. I think I did mine in under 10 minutes. Here is a vid on how to do it.
It would save you a bunch of money if you went for the HDD I suggested and using this video. They were wanting alot of money to do it themselves.

wen mine was replaced i was 2 months out of warrenty and i had v2.5
Really? Wow. This guy, Jeff, that I had talked to said that since mine was out of warranty it could be replaced for $150 plus shipping costs. I may call them back and give them an earful.
I know alot of ppl think less of me on this board, but i am really pissed. I have over $4,000 invested into my entire gaming setup. How would you guys feel if you invested so much money into something that breaks so easily? No great, I can tell you that. I have decided to just repair my PS3 and keep it. I do love it….when its working, lol. It really is better than Xbox, and I really do hope that Samsung will eventually created their own console bc they are dominating every aspect of the electronics field currently. Plus I reserved Resident Evil 5 just two days prior to my blu ray drive crashing. Being the die hard resident evil fan that I am is enough for me to keep everything until I get platinum on that game.
edge4eva32
MemberYeah Sony will fix it for free if you can prove you purchased it within the last 12 months or were a victim of v2.40 firmware. Other than those two exceptions, they can only “replace” the blu ray drive for $150.
edge4eva32
MemberNo. I will not be leaving. I love pissing people off on message boards. Oh and if you don't believe me about the over 300 hours of cumulative play, then contact Sony technical support yourself. Ask to be transferred to the technical support department, because the automated system is horrible!!! That is how I got ahold of Jeff.

MemberHere is a link to the HDD that I have in my PS3.

Its cheap, great storage, good speed, and again it is cheap. Never had a problem with the HDD. I have all the problems in the world with the Blu Ray drive. Hope this helps you.

MemberShadeblack, your post has been one of the most respectful so far. However, read farther up. I and many of my friends and family, have had horror stories with Sony. So it is far from just one piece of hardware. There have been 4 dvd players, 2 TV's, 2 Playstation 3's, and a Vaio Laptop invovled in my decision to boycott Sony entirely. Actually read the stock market reports. Sony has had consecutive 100 million dollar losses month after month. That is a stone solid fact. So I am not hiding behind my opinions, Im relying on facts. I hope and pray that no one has to go through so many consoles with Sony as I have had to in the last 4 months. The funny thing is I play less than many of the other gamers here. I do watch blu rays as well as play games. I probably watch 1 blu ray per week, and maybe 20 hours of play time per week. So I don't over play the console. I just keep getting crap after crap from Sony. Only 18 months, then I will be a RN. So I'll be able to work in hospitals where there will always be jobs and great money. So I'll be able to buy any game I want at anytime I want. The funny thing about this whole ordeal is that I was one of the biggest PS3 fanatics. I would tell everyone to get rid of Xbox 360's to get a PS3. How wrong I was to convince them of such a costly mistake.
