Not doing much with the PS3 lately as my interest has switched to the stack of board games I have. Currently watching a tutorial vid for a Card Game called Death Angel. Rulebook was written by someone that is obviously a total spastic so clarification was needed.
Anyone else into board games?
I773D33MABL3MemberWatched 'Savages' last night. I'd heard bad things but I loved it. Well worth looking up.
I773D33MABL3MemberOkay, so a few additions.
World War Z – Enjoyed it quite a bit, I know it makes a mess of the book but I've never read it so I don't care! Some stupid plot-holes but I was in a forgiving mood.
Pacific Rim – I really wanted to like this but it never rose above “meh” for me. The FX are pretty but that's standard fare these days. Just never hooked me in.
Dredd – Park your brain at the door as you shall not need it here! A plot that a monkey could've written but just so much fun! I've never read the comics but this actually has me interested in looking into them.
The Watch – Total shit. About three laughs in the whole film (all courtesy of Jonah Hill) and tedious action. Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn haven't been funny in years. They both should have retired after Dodgeball.
Wrath of the Titans – Literally every aspect of this movie is arse. Premise is retarded, plot is mush, script is laughable, the actors seem embarassed to be there and the FX (considering they're the only selling point) are mediocre at best and downright mingin' at worst. Pegasus flying across the sky is genuinely painful to watch. Turned it off on the hour mark…
I773D33MABL3MemberWell after months of not knowing what the shit was wrong with my amp I finally got it to make friends with my tuntable so I've been working my way through a stack of records that I haven't been able to play since I bought them.
At the moment it's Cosmosophy by Blut Aus Nord spinning.
“Epitome XVII”
I773D33MABL3MemberTried some more Crysis 3 today but didn't really get anywhere. The game is starting to piss me off. Frustration I can take. Random bullshit not so much.
So to ease my frustration I naturally turned to Black Ops. There's a few zombies trophies left over that I never got around to trying for so tonight I went for 'Perks in Spaaaaaace'. Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, the starting area is easily the toughest part. Once I got into space and grabbed a decent gun the biodome just turned into a turkey shoot.
Next up 'Fully Armed and Operational' then onto 'Call of the Dead' to get shagged by George again.
I773D33MABL3MemberSlowly moving through Crysis 3. Probably doable in a day if I really stuck with it but I'm too distracted with books lately. Also not quite sure what the shit is happening with the storyline.
Putting some time into Ghost Recon online and getting massacred. I always seem to join a team getting steam-rolled and it's not helping that my own skills are paltry.
I773D33MABL3MemberSpent most of today with LBP Karting. 41% into the story with all levels starred so far. Also picked up the miscelleneous trophies for profile, editing etc. And I downloaded it onto my second PS3 and had that working on the 24hrs in create mode trophy courtesy of an elastic band on the analogues. PLayed a few races/battles online with my brother and mates but we had so many freezes we spent more time out of levels than in.

I773D33MABL3MemberDefinitely the first

Without trying to hate on the movie (we all remember the Avatar incident!) I just couldn't find anything redeeming in Man of Steel. I was hyped for it as I was hoping it'd be something along the lines of the Batman reboot but after the first half hour, complete boredom set in and didn't lift. I liked the cast, I liked the stuff on his background (Both Krypton and Earth) but once Zod and the little rascals turned up it just became a CG fest and there are way too many movies doing it better to impress with that alone.
Anyways, that's the last of my dumping on it!
I watched a movie called Crash yesterday. It's been around a few years but I'd never given it a second glance. Sat down to watch something random while eating some food and ended up mesmerised for nearly two hours. I won't go into any real details as I think watching it without expectations or pre-set ideas will make it more enjoyable.
It doesn't re-invent the wheel but it's just masterfully told.

WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?!?!?
I773D33MABL3MemberSettling into Crysis 3 with a few levels under my belt. Trying to get through completely stealthy like I did in Crysis 2 and the bow makes it so much easier.
Also played a good bit of Ghost Recon online with VaeVictas. Had a good round or two but mostly just got my ass kicked. Some of the maps are just death traps if you're not familiar with them and the guys still playing it are all the die-hards so if they coordinate you can kiss your ass goodbye.
Gonna stick with it though. And Vae will improve far quicker than I will so I can just ride his slip-stream for wins.
I773D33MABL3MemberAfter Ni No Kuni I feel like something a little quicker so I've started up Crysis 3. Only messed around in the first level but it feels good to be back in the suit and it's nice to have a reason to use the 3D.
I773D33MABL3MemberWhy do thes people even join?! They can view everything for free! We get one new post per 500 new members. Can there really be that many bots?
I773D33MABL3MemberHaven't posted in this thread in donkey's and I can't remember half of what I've seen recently but I'll through in my two cents worth on the movies mentioned above.
First off: Scotty, nathan has a serious point about your last post, you pretty much describe the entire ending and you should edit in a warning.
(***SPOILERS***)
Then again, MoS should have come with a warning. Struggled to stay awake through the entire film. The action scenes are so overblown they just end up being dull. There's only so many times I can watch a guy get smashed through a building. Doing it to a bigger building does not revive the excitement. CG for it's own sake is no longer impressive. And I do have to agree with Denzel that the dramatic poignancy of some deaths was severly undermined by the catastrophic loss of life that went completely unremarked on.
The CG was also largely piss-poor with some of the character animation looking like mid-90s rejects.
And a special mention has to go to some of the worst dialogue ever to be written. “This man… is not our enemy” Actually buried my face in my hands at that one.
I also watched the Avengers for the first time recently. A good movie but maybe a little diappointing. I think the hype had just built this up to much for me.
Iron Man 3 kept me a lot more entertained than I thought it would considerg the utter shite-pile that was IM2. The CG team got carried away with a little too much bollocks towards the end but there was enough of the movie shot away from the suits to fit in some properly engaging plot. Got in a few solid laughs as well.
I watched Trollhunter on Netflix and it's probably the best film out of the bunch I've mentioned. Surprisingly good CG for a low budget film but (for the most part) kept it subtle enough to avoid distracting from the tension. Some people are put off by subtitles but miss this at your peril.
