MemberI haven't seen the latest Robin Hood so I won't weigh in on the argument as to whether it's good or bad. But my gut reaction is to agree with Parn.
Robin Hood is a romantic character, he's always portrayed as a knight in shining armour for the poor. While I don't agree with re-treading old ground and making the same movie several times, if you're going to re-write a character entirely then it's not going to go down well with quite a lot of people.
The trend I'm picking up on at the moment (from reviewers, not you guys) is dismissing the previous incarnation of Robin Hood as camp and Kevin Costner as a bit of a lady-boy. (Even Crowe is bashing it, the guy is a good actor but he's an arsehole in real life.) Yet at the time of release that film went down a storm and people saw it as the definitive version.
I may be blown away by the new movie but I doubt it. From what I've seen and read it seems to be another by-the-numbers action movie with a Robin Hood façade to give it some depth. Still, I'm open to being converted.

MemberWe do already have quite a few futuristic shooters (Let's not forget Killzone and the downloadable crap like Cellfactor and Section 8 but over-saturation has never stopped developers before. How many World War 1/2 shooters were there before COD threw out WAW?
And Resistance doesn't exactly have the future market sown up. It's based around a strong story so it's finite and people will expect it to finish up with the next release. (Unless they pull a Halo and bleed the IP dry).
Futuristic games offer much more variety than modern ones. I think COD has exhausted the number of guns used in modern combat so they can't introduce anything new. Likewise, all of the battlefield types have been done. Once you get through town, desert, forest and snow you're fairly stuck.
Modern Warfare 2 was almost a carbon copy of the first one and 3 will probably follow suit. With Medal of Honour going modern there isn't going to be much room for new ideas.

Kudos to Activision.
They've found a formula where mindless 'tards will fork over a brand new games' value for map packs. All the while, LOL'ing all the way to the bank. Then a month or two down the road, those mindless 'tards ask themselves, “WTF was I thinking???”.
I think it started with COD4…
Rinse & repeat with WAW…
Rinse & repeat with MW2…
Rinse & repeat with ***insert title here***….
I think that's a formula being applied to DLC in general. Since PSN started we've seen a steady increase in price and not much of an increase in content quality to go with it. I paid a fiver for the new BC2 pack and all it included was camo patterns for four guns and marginal changes to the character skins.
Re-hashing old maps is just cashing in on nostalgia. The same is happening with PSN titles. How many “HD” versions of old crappy arcade shooters have we got?

MemberI'd take the piss out of this but seeing as Bad Company seems to be doing it's best to emulate everything COD does I'm actually a little worried…

MemberWhat do you mean by one profile? Do they all have to be completed on the same playthrough or with the same character?

MemberWell I, for one, didn't know about it.
Thanks for the info Doc, I've tried these tournaments several times and each time I give up through boredom more than inability to progress. I've had them glitch on me a few times and nothing saps the will to try again more than getting screwed by the game itself.
The last time I did them with my brother, we got to round 14 but at round ten the consoles didn't sync properly and the enemies stopped appearing on his screen. They could still shoot him and he could shoot them (despite their invisibility and the fact that his bullets and grenades were also visually AWOL) but it made it a Hell of a lot harder. He had to use my screen and if I wasn't looking at something he got ambushed.
I absolutely love this game and while I don't like the idea of taking the easy route, I've given these tournaments more time than they deserve already.

MemberI'm actually smiling in idiot delight.
That looks utter quality and if it turns out even half as good as the trailer suggests it'll easily trump the first LBP and that is no small feat.

MemberCareful man, you keep up the bashing and they're going to have an Avatar Pride Parade.
I watched The Boat that Rocked the other night. Not a bad movie. I have no idea which one of the fledgling story arcs was meant to be “the plot” but then neither did the director because none of them seemed to last for more than two or three scenes.
Not that I want to detract from the movie too harshly, the cast are hilarious and more than make up for any directorial errors.

Avatar.
The movie is still what it was from the beginning of release, but I was extremely dissapointed with the DVD/Blu Ray release having no Special Features at all. As much as I love James Cameron, even I find it a bit greedy for him to release such a movie with no features at all, considering the loads of money he made off of it. In November a four disk Special Edition will be released with hours of special features, so I think its probably a best bet for everyone to wait till then if they plan on owning the movie.
This is becoming a lot more common. I wouldn't blame Cameron too much though. Chances are it was a decision made by the publisher.
Quite a few new releases have been dumped on us with zero features because there's some “Ultimate” nonsense being released a few months later. The Lord of the Rings trilogy did it. They released the theatrical cut first and the extended editions will come out towards the end of the year.
In the gaming world we're well used to multiple versions of a product being thrown at us but we usually get a simultaneous release so we can choose the standard or limited/special edition ourselves.
Firing out a 'film only' release is just a way for publishers to make die-hard fans pay twice for something.

MemberC'mon the Spurs!!!!
If the likely result plays out and Chelsea win the League then at least I can console myself with the knowledge that neither City or the Pool will grab fourth.
Here's to being a bad loser

MemberI like the flower theme and some of the Heavy Rain ones are cool.
The Wipeout HD theme is nice looking but I always feel it should be making some kind of noise. There's too much going on for it to be silent!
I use the Warhawk theme quite a bit.

Careful man, a lot of Arsenal fans probably thought Wigan would be a roll-over too.
