I think one of the biggest problems with younger people avoiding books is that they associate them with study. The majority of reading a young person does (in Ireland anyway) is through school. They either have text books that are directly related to study or are force-fed the “classics”. Neither of which inspire much of a fondness for reading as a hobby.
Also, most people just don't realise what's available in books. Movies and games have commercials, advertisements and reviews in almost every magazine and newspaper while very few books get that much exposure. Quite a few people I know don't dislike reading but it still wouldn't dawn on them to walk into a shop and pick up a book.
I, myself, would read almost as much as I game. I'm a massive fan of science fiction and fantasy (I order books from the Black Library every month) and when I want to step into the real world music would be my chosen genre.
Do graphic novels count as reading or is that cheating?
I773D33MABL3MemberDo you mean games where more than one profile can sign in and both players earn trophies individually?

I773D33MABL3MemberConsidering how bad the gloss black was, can you imagine trying to keep that thing fingerprint free?
I773D33MABL3MemberTry and fix it. If it's outside warranty then you have nothing to lose and if you get it working again you can get your disk, any save data you want and then trade the console in against a newer model.
I773D33MABL3MemberThe best gaming news I heard last year was the fact that they were making more games for this IP and this is just the sort of thing I’ve been waiting for. The first game is easily my favourite on PS3 and I’m picking up a Wii just so I can play DS: Extraction.
I hope EA promote DS2 like they did the first one (movie, graphic novel etc.)
I773D33MABL3MemberMade the mistake of watching ‘In the Name of the King’ yesterday. I knew that with Uwe Boll at the helm it wasn’t going to be an easy watch but it managed to surpass even my lowest expectations. It’s not often that I wish the bad guys in a film would kill me instead of the other characters. It would have been a clean way to die as well because the Krug (read: orc wannabes) seemed to have mastered the art of hacking someone to bits with a sword without spilling a drop of blood…

I felt that the first time I saw TS in the cinema but I picked up the blu-ray recently and enjoyed it a lot more. I think it’s better if you look at it as just an action movie rather than a terminator sequel. T2 left big boots to fill and I can’t see anyone managing it any time soon. It also helps if you watch T3 beforehand because it reminds you of just how bad TS could have been.I773D33MABL3Member@Parnakas
Atmosphere, is that the game where you have a video with some freak dressed up and telling you what to do? That was brilliant, I think I still have it in my attic somewhere but finding it would be a waste as I don’t have anything to play VHS. Which version of it do you have? I think there was about six.I773D33MABL3Member@barkiemailman
I’m not trying to start an argument with you, my first post wasn’t directed at you in particular, I just thought I’d throw out the idea and see what came back. I genuinely don’t care who Prof. Doc. is or why he wrote his post, I just thought another point of view might be more interesting than some forgettable version of “I agree”.I773D33MABL3MemberSo if you're definite that he's not being sarcastic and is in fact a “stupid little kid”, why would you start a dedicated thread making fun of a child…?
I773D33MABL3MemberI just juggled U2 and MW2 between consoles and the stats transferred so they're saved online. Chances are COD4 and WAW do the same but you should be able to find out in the IW forums. Not all online games do it though, I know Red Faction doesn't and Warhawk saved your stats but not the character detail (skin, insignia, colour etc.) that you had picked. While you can't check anything on a broken PS3 if you were ever able to check your stats in any game while you weren't signed in then chances are they're on the HDD.
I773D33MABL3MemberOkay, so for the sake of pedantry we’ll say he has to have more than a basic understanding of the language to make it through the original post.
I773D33MABL3MemberIt depends on the game. Some games save your online stats on the HDD while others save them to servers. Which ones are you trying to carry over?
Formatting will completely wipe your HDD.
