No. As soon as you put your old HDD into the new PS3 it’ll tell you it needs to be formatted.
I773D33MABL3MemberHe claims to be from England so I'm assuming he's actually from there which means his first language is English. So not only does he need to be illiterate to the point of being legally disabled, but also has to have no understanding of the green and red spelling/grammar underlines that must have littered his post. Then he has to be so unforgivably thick that he thinks professor doctor is an actual title.
How could a person possessing those powers of stupidity have managed to actually read the opening post?
I773D33MABL3MemberDoes anybody think that, just maybe, this guy was being sarcastic?
I773D33MABL3MemberI don't find it much hassle to just throw my save games on to a usb stick. And I tend not to be playing in one room and then suddenly decide I want to play in another. Plus, if my housemate is watching a movie, listening to music or playing a game then he mightn't be too impressed with me unplugging the console and marching off with it.

When you lend one of your retail games out there’s still only one copy of the game, on the other hand if you download a PSN title onto several consoles then Sony would view that as making multiple copies. Not that I’m disagreeing with you entirely, I like to be able to play my games at my brother’s house without having to go to the hassle of bringing over one of my own PS3s.I773D33MABL3MemberWhile I would agree with Sony trying to clamp down on gamesharing, further limiting accounts is a bit unfair on those of us with multiple consoles. I have three at the moment which means if one of those burns out beyond repair or gets corrupted somehow, I then can’t put my account onto a new one without getting Sony to reset the whole thing.
I773D33MABL3MemberI’ve had the same issue but it started when I picked up Uncharted 2, long before MW2 or 3.01. I think Sony are just having server issues with all the extra traffic. Both games have popular MP and a lot of people picked them up on release. I’ve had trouble accessing the PS store and I can’t get vidzone to work at all so it’s not just the syncing that’s an issue. One thing I’ve noticed though is that although I get the error code and can’t view my trophies, if my brother checks my profile on his friends list all my trophies are there so the info is being uploaded.

ive got 1,463 trophies with 15 platinums . I almost had the platinum for uncharted 2 but a power surge hit my house and my SURGE PROTECTOR didn't do it job and i got the green/yellow/blinking red light so my own ps3 is out of commission. Oh, does anyone know the answer to this…If i send my ps3 back to sony to get it fixed, will they erase my harddrive even though a) its not the original one (i have a 320gb in there right now) and b)if the problem has nothing to do with the memory (its the power function that has failed) sorry if this gets of topic…
The YLOD is easily fixed. Check online for tutorials on how to do it.
Just under 1300 trophies – 10 plats.
I773D33MABL3MemberYou originally wanted the thread deleted yet you've done more to keep it going than anyone else that's posted in it. How does that translate as any sort of win?

I773D33MABL3MemberMy house mate upgraded to a 250GB hdd and his PS3 got the YLOD a few months later. It has a lot to do with the games you play. Games that suffer from lag or badly coded ports put a lot of stress on your processor.
I773D33MABL3MemberThe YLOD isn't anything to do with hdd size. It's a problem with the processor overheating and the thermal compound between it and the heat sink cracking. This means that the heat isn't drawn away from the processor and the PS3 YLODs as a warning before any serious damage gets done. A few of you guys have said that you can get your PS3s to work for a while before YLODing but if the heat sink can't do it's job then you're just cooking your motherboard.
I773D33MABL3MemberIf you do a full system backup instead of copying things individually then locked game saves get copied as well. It also backs up your game install data which saves a lot of time later. Any photos, music or videos will get saved as well.
I773D33MABL3MemberThere are reliable tutorials online that show you how to fix it. This is handy if you're out of warranty. Plus, if you give it to Sony, they send out a replacement and you'll lose your game saves.
I773D33MABL3MemberQuite a few contenders for that title. For every classic we've had there's been two turkeys. I think Eat Lead was the glitchiest game I played and Damnation was muck but I still managed to make it through a playthrough on each. Unlike Prince of Persia and Mirror's Edge which only sparked my interest when they were pissing me off. Infamous has been mentioned here a couple of times but I think rather than being a genuinely bad game it was just very ordinary and didn't come close to the hype. For me the absolute worst game of 08/09 was Noby Noby boy. I know it's only a psn title but after staring at it for forty minutes I had to turn it off because the frustration was actually giving me a physical pain in my chest.
