It definitely isn't a game you should rush. The temptation to charge through it for the plat is there but you'd be doing yourself a disservice. The game is fantastic and there is so much to find that you miss just sticking to the missions. I'm looking forward to starting the whole thing again when the DLC arrives.
I773D33MABL3MemberIt took me about fifty hours without a guide. That also included a bit of wandering around killing stuff for fun so I've no doubt with a guide and purpose you'll shorten it considerably.
I773D33MABL3MemberMost of the problems with PS3s breaking are with the original 60gig model. I'm on my third yet my brother's 40gig has lasted since it was released. Unlike his 360 Elite which died after 7 months. Microsoft cheaped out on the original Xbox 360 to launch ahead of Sony so nobody was too surprised when peopole had massive problems with it, but to release a newer version of the console with all of the same faults is ridiculous. I only know four people with Elites; all four have had to replace them. One after only three months.

I773D33MABL3MemberI downloaded the trial for this and was pretty impressed. I'm looking for games that I can play at home with my friends so local multiplayer is perfect. But I'll want to try for some of the online trophies as well and as I haven't played a beat-em-up since Tekken 2, I'm facing a steep learning curve. This guide'll help (a lot of FAQs answered before being asked) but is there space online for a noob like myself or is it purely for the combo masters out there?
I773D33MABL3MemberI've read in a few places now, that Kingofallgames and several other guys topping the leaderboards are actually multiple people playing under the one profile. This is something that baffles me. Most people you meet on the PSN aren't going to give a damn how many trophies you have. The only attention these guys seem get is to be denounced as cheaters. They're competing with people that ignore them. I know the only people I would ever be in (mild) competition with are my friends and housemates and as they would know if I boosted it makes it pointless.
I773D33MABL3MemberWhy is it that anytime anyone with a large trophy count turns up, people start accusing them of having no life? The forums and comments are littered with this crap. Having plenty of free time to spend gaming (something they enjoy) sounds like a pretty good life to me.
I773D33MABL3MemberFrom what I can gather screamo is a general term given to anything with extreme metal vocals. That track from Job… was death metal with some black metal vocals thrown into the mix.
Extreme metal is a difficult listen so I can understand people dismissing it out of hand. The music is usually played at such a speed and with such intensity that it comes across as a maelstrom of noise with some guy screaming/growling over the top. You can't just throw it in the CD player and expect to hear it all straight away. Extreme metal demands that you spend some time tuning in your ear. It's like looking into a machine for he first time. You just have a mess of parts that don't mean anything but after you spend some time with it everything starts to come together and gather purpose.
That said, understanding it doesn't mean you're going to like it. Metal like this is aimed at a very small hardcore fanbase. It was never intended to be acceptable to a large audience. Your average person doesn't like to listen to angry, hate-filled music.
Most people here seem to have an issue with the vocals; a mixture of just not liking the screaming or not being able to hear what is being said. Music is essentially a medium. More often than not for an emotion. Love (lust/desire) is the most frequent one and songs are tailored to project it; hence the easygoing clean vocals. Metal (for the most part) focuses on hate/rage and when translated into a sonic form this emotion is far more violent and vitriolic. Screaming is the ideal form of delivery. The problem with making out what is being said is easily solved by just taking out the album and listening to the tracks while reading the lyrics. You have to invest some time in a song and, ultimately, you will get more out of it. Having to read the words means you take them all in and put more thought into them than if you just threw on an album and sang along with it. And if there ever was a genre that warrented attention to lyrics, extreme metal is definitely it. The language and imagery used is far beyond the sing-along muck that passes for songwriting elsewhere.
All of the above is intended to be informative, not a lecture.
I773D33MABL3MemberA lot of hate being piled up on metal's doorstep, I'd like to carry the flag in it's defense but nobody's actually given a solid reason that I can reply to.
And what the hell is screamo before I inadvertently defend that as well?

I773D33MABL3MemberMirror's Edge. I was blown away when I saw the trailers which made the game look perfectly fluid and the graphics looked incredible. I ended up only playing it as far as level five and even that was a chore. The gameplay was painfully dull, the storyline impossible to care about and the graphics are the worst I've come across. Stuff looks grand if you're running past it but stop and look at it and it's muck. Very bland muck. I ran past a truck at one stage and I had to turn around and go back to look at it, it was so bad. It looked like it had driven there from my PS1.
I773D33MABL3MemberThere will be Blood. After nearly three hours of fighting sleep in the cinema I felt safe re-naming it 'There will be f*ck-all Blood'.
I773D33MABL3MemberOn my third. Hard-drive got corrupted in the first and the second burnt out.
I773D33MABL3Member'Man bites God' by Aborym
I773D33MABL3MemberDead Space. The only game I've ever played where I genuinely felt “I don't want to die here”.
