Well Liverpool have needed a proper left back for a while, Jose Enrique would fit nicely into the system as he's useful going forward. I would rather Fabio Coentrao in a perfect world. I think loyal footballers are becoming more and more rare, 3 weeks before Torres left he said that he didn't want to leave etc, so I wouldn't be too surprised about any player leaving the club they 'love'.
There has been a lot of buzz about a possible move from Liverpool for Gervinho, but we'll let you have Gervinho and we can have Lavezzi. Karim Benzema has also been a name floating around Liverpool, if Real Madrid keep Adebayor at the end of the season and get Higuain back to the fitness they might let Benzema leave.
I saw the first bit of the Chelsea V Everton game and it was boring so I went to play FIFA, I was just about to turn it off and come back up to the game when knoxie wanted to play some games. When I eventually went to watch the game it was at Ashley Cole's penalty so I blame you Mr. Knoxie for me missing the good bit of the game, haha I wouldn't mind either but you beat me twice aswel.
pool96MemberThe Europa League has been very disappointing this year, another soul-sucking 90 minutes last night. The team did seem to start attacking and we could've worked more openings only for a very poor showing from David Ngog. In the latter stages of the second half though Fabio Aurelio, in a central midfield position, picked up an adductor strain so Raul Meireles had to be pulled back and Joe Cole was brought on but didn't provide much spark.
The team formation was very defensive for Kenny anyways, I think he wanted the draw. He played 4-4-1-1. A flat back four of Glen Johnson, Jamie Carragher, Sotirios Kyrgiakos and Danny Wilson. Johnson and Wilson didn't get forward much which is unusual for Liverpool full backs under Dalglish
Dirk Kuyt and Maxi Rodriguez struggled on the wings all game and our shortage in central midfield was exposed with Lucas and Fabio Aurelio starting there. Raul Meireles started behind David Ngog.
Providing Sparta don't nick a goal at Anfield I am still quite adamant we'll go through. I think we'll revert back to a 3-4-2-1 formation, hopefully with Gerrard and Agger fit, Kuyt playing central forward and Kelly and Johnson marauding full backs.
As for Rangers, they conceded a very, very bad late away goal against Sporting Lisbon. You get the feeling they're going to have to score in Portugal.
FA CUP!!
Until Sunday I am officially a Crawley Town fan, they mix my two favourite things. They're serious underdogs and they're playing United. Despite anything though, you struggle to see them beating United at Old Trafford.
Chelsea and Manchester City are only playing their fourth round replays this weekend, I think the Chelsea V Everton game could be a very good game because although you wouldn't think it ever possible, David Moyes really needs a result. Arsenal should have no problems away to Leyton Orient.
Let's talk Summer transfers for a while.
As regards to Liverpool we need to strenghten pretty much everywhere. The two names constantly being linked already, I know it's only February but Napoli striker Ezzequiel Lavezzi, nicknamed 'El Pocho' and worth about 20 million euros.
The other name, and knoxie and any other toon fan wont want to hear it but it's Jose Enrique. A very good left back and worth around 12 million pounds I am led to believe.
I'd love to see either of those two join but we also need a left winger and Rennes winger Sylvain Marveaux has signed a pre-contract agreement and will join Liverpool on July 1st for free.
We need a central midfielder and I'd love to see Charlie Adam play for Liverpool but it is seeming more likely that Alberto Aquilani will be returning to Anfield. Juventus seem unwilling to pay the 20 million pound asking price to make his loan deal permanent at the end of the season. Especially with Andrea Pirlo going for free in the Summer.
Phew, that must have been my longest post yet.
pool96MemberI always backed Spurs to win for some reason, I really want a Tottenham V Barcelona final.
Flamini should have been sent off, doesn't matter what league it is it's two footed and dangerous with his studs showing. Imbrahimovic's push was minimal but he had his hands on Dawson's back and there was no need for that.
The Arsenal game was good, although it was the worst game I've seen Messi play all year, Arsenal showed a great level of resillience and maturity but I still think Barcelona will come through after the second league.
Europa League is back waheey!
Manchester City already played their last 32 1st leg, 0-0 draw in Greece against Aris Thessalonika, with a strong team mind you. You would expect City to win at Eastlands though.
Sparta Prague V Liverpool – No Gerrard, Agger, Poulsen, Suarez or Carroll. I hope Raheem Sterling gets a game. He got 5 goals in a FA youth cup game on Monday and looks a really good prospect. Conor Coady, Jack Robinson, Tom Ince are all going aswell. Nice to see Kenny using young players.
Other British interest involves Rangers V Sporting Lisbon at Ibrox tonight. Tough tie for Rangers but I don't know enough about either team to make a call on this one.
Will also be keeping an eye on Lech Poznan V Braga because if Liverpool make it through to the Last 16, we will be playing the winners of that tie.
FA Cup is back at the weekend! I'll probably leave a big post regarding that for tomorrow.

carra :L i hope you mean kuyt! if yous are gonna stick with that formation, once suarez is fully fit i would put him in for maxi (who imo is not good enough) and then drop kuyt behind suarez.
manu have some hard games coming up, and i do want them to lose to see a real title race, looking too easy for them atm! someone needs to take advantage of their 'not so good' away form (yes they mightve been unbeaten but nearly all draws!).
anyways i hope england win tonight, but i wouldnt be suprised if they made it hard for themselves, as per usual! im hoping they line-up like this:
Hart
Johnson Terry Dawson Baines
Walcott Wilshere Lampard Downing
Rooney Bent
obviously had to include the likes of terry, lampard, and rooney cos they are nearly certain to start. if im honest tho i'd rather see cahill in for terry, parker in for lamps, and young in for rooney! that would mean young plays off bent, walcott and downing become attacking wingers and wilshere and parker drop back to defensive mids.
haha I meant I don't care where people play as long as it works. I don't mind if Pepe plays as a striker if we're winning. I agree Maxi will probably lose his place he is a squad player. That miss was just cringeworthy.
I am really happy for Republic of Ireland's result last night. I know Wales aren't going through a good patch right now but we scored goals and that was important. New players got blooded like Seamus Coleman and Ciaran Clarke. I've seen a fair bit of Darren Gibson this season and I knew he was capable of those efforts, Damien Duff is playing well lately, I was impressed with his last game for Fulham. I think we should really start pushing Robbie Keane out the door now, he goes down too easily and it frustrates me. He certaintly shouldn't be captain. It should be Richard Dunne or Shay Given. Kevin Doyle doesn't score bucketloads but he works hard. Leon Best could be a good future prospect.
pool96MemberSky always struggle with the Liverpool team haha, on the official webstie though it is lined out as a strict 3-4-2-1 but sure I don't mind if Carragher plays up front as long as it works.
If United lose to City this weekend and we beat them at Anfield, title race will be blown wide open (not for us though) I hope Arsenal or Manchester City win it although deep down I know United are going to win it even though it sickens me to bits.
pool96MemberAs every young Irish children, we're all given a fair welt on the tinwhistle in primary school, I don't play that anymore. I had a go at the fiddle for a while but gave that up as well. I play a lot of piano, I am currently trying to learn The Simpson's Theme on it but it's bloody hard. I have a Yamaha keyboard which is fairly useless but I have a lovely Upright piano although I tink it might have piano arthritis?!
I play guitar aswel, I started on a crap 30 euro acoustic from Argos, progressed from that on to my first electric, a second-hand Elevation (It's a copy of a Fender Strat) It's black and white and came with a tiny 10Watt amp. After that I got a Yamaha F310 acoustic guitar which I love and it sounds brilliant, then last May I invested in a Black/gold Epiphone Les Paul Custom Limited 50th Anniversary Edition. I bought it off my cousin in Tennesse. I am still stuck with the 10Watt amp though. It's a brilliant guitar though, one of the Korean Epiphones.
So that's pretty much my musical life. I've a brilliant memory for music but I struggle with sight-reading and my 'ear' isn't great either.
pool96MemberActually it was 3 at the back for us on Sunday, Kenny done the same thing against Stoke and it's been working. It was Reina in goal, Carragher, Skrtel and Agger the 3 backs. Kelly and Johnson were wingers with Lucas and Gerrard in centre midfield. Meireles and Maxi played as inside forwards just behind Kuyt, well that's how they started anyways.
Martin Kelly has pulled out of the England U-21s squad after spraining his ankle yesterday and Martin Skrtel done some ligament damage in his groin I think, he took a painkiller and an injection at halftime to finish the game. With Joe Cole, Jay Spearing, and Andy Carroll still injured and Steven Gerrard, Martin Kelly, and Martin Skrtel all doubts for Saturday's game with Wigan this is probably the worst our injury list has been all year.
I suppose a push for Champions League qualification isn't completely off the wall, there's six points gap (Tottenham have a game in hand) but if we can keep our run going, beating Wigan and West Ham which takes us into March where the only Premier League games we have is at home to Manchester United and away to Sunderland we should be getting at least 4 points from them two, then April is a huge month with matches against Manchester City, Arsenal, West Brom and Newcastle. Tottenham at Anfield is the second last game of the season, might be a huge game yet.
pool96MemberThat Arsenal game yesterday was unbelievable, and Knoxie there might be room for Joey in the England squad yet because Gerrard has pulled out after he hurt his groin today. It's about time United lost I was getting awfully sick of there poxy late goals.
Our victory today was probably the most sweet victory I've tasted in a long time. Torres must feel like an awful eejit and for an extra kick in the teeth Carroll and Suarez didn't play.
LONG LIVE KING KENNY YNWA!
pool96MemberI achieved last years resolutions by cutting down significantly on PS3 time.
This year I have to do some crazy fitness work because on my football team we have been hit very bad by injuries so lately I am being used as an emergency right winger rather than playing center back and the difference in work load is substantial so I need to work on that.
I have to study a load aswel because I have Junior Cert exams in June and I need to kick some ass in them.

pool96MemberWell Uncharted is, in my experience, one of the exceptions where the sequel was better than the original.
Normally a game is made, turns out to be awesome, the developer panics and churns out a secod as quick as they can to grab sales.
Uncharted 2 was a huge improvement on the already awesome original. I would like to see more co-op missions in this game. They were probably my favourite thing about the last game.
I never played a Jak game so I am happier that NaughtyDog announced Uncharted 3. I will probably only play a Jak game if there's a remake like the Sly Collection.
I would've put my house on U3 being the 'secret' reveal this Sunday. I still think it is, after all this was leaked then Naughty Dog confirmed it. Maybe they didn't intend for it to get out. Then again I wouldn't expect that after Sony hyped this big reveal. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

any nation that divides itself over religious reasons is not very cool in my book…..so would another point of this thread to bash N Ireland? hardship due to your beleif in ”fairytales” make me sick
Ooooh, careful man. That is one bitter can of worms you're opening. Don't get me wrong, as a “devout” atheist myself I couldn't agree more on the topic of religious divisions but the problems between the North and South are a lot more complex. There's massive political and social reasons behind the split. Religious segregation was just one of the euphemisms people used to paste over blatant racism.
@Redbren
I live in Ennis, in Clare. One seriously introverted and inbred dump of a town. I'm from Dublin and I can't wait to get back there.
dude the school systems where im from (and my state oklahoma in particular where we rank 49th out of 50th in education) are incredably shoddy. I took a cultural geography class this semester and when we dicussed N Ireland it was pretty myuch told to us that the protestant/catholic thing was the whole reason….so what are these reasons you speak of? I'd love to be able to rattle off all kinds of shit to my teacher over the subject, as she is the worst professor in history. Seriously. (imagine a class where the whole point is to teach ignorant ass people how to be tolerant of other people….by an obviously staunch republican.) i try to learn someting every day, especially social and/or economic things, because watching the news nodays = you getting fed whatever someone esle wants you to hear. So if someone could prplerly educate me on the topic with an unbiased opinion, i would be greatful.
