I can't say no to fre- I mean helping out a team player
Also, was I the only one who enjoyed Hoyt? I thought he was an interesting character and menacing as well. I'd like to see DLC backstories for these characters, but then it would ruin the mystery of some of their backstories and what drove them to their present selves, if that makes sense?

I won't hate the game if the ending is the same thing I've just predicted, unless it turns into something completely outrageous and goes against the series. I've played games in the past I where I knew exactly what would happen since it was spoiled for me and have still enjoyed them (Batman: AC, Army of Two, Resistance, etc.) so just by predicting what the usual cliche ending in the third act and especially last installment of a certain character's arc will make me disappointed? Take Mass Effect 3 for example, every single person including myself should've saw what the ending would be for the franchise (except for the crazy bullshit “twist) when they first picked up the game, I predicted the what would be the ending of the game months before it came out, even during the initial stages of Mass Effect 2. I played through the entire game and was blown away at how immersed I was, etc. and when getting to the ending (or at least a few minutes before the craziness), I actually really enjoyed the way the bad assery of Shepard's arc was ending. If the ending turns out to be nothing that I've speculated, I won't bash the game, unless the ending is just out-of-the-blue and drivel, but more than likely accept it even if it turns out to not be good. I'd actually prefer them not to go the usual cliche sacrifice-type ending since that's how most story arcs end now.
Dead Space is changing, yes, but it's becoming essentially what every other game on the market is right now. If I was some random casual gamer out in a local game store, what would motivate me to pick up this title? It's basically a generic third person shooter (from the demo) with the whole cliche “Save the world” type plot in it, why pick this up when Mass Effect 3 is on the shelves with the exact equivalent story with even better gameplay for what? $20 instead of $60? And I've never said that this game was awful, since the game isn't out for consumers like myself and I specifically said that the demo was, “… Fcuking garbage…”. With Spec Ops, it wasn't annoying that you were bashing the game, but from my understanding I personally thought you had missed the entire point of the game when you said they kept bashing how killing was bad and the choices were easy which didn't require much thought. There's much symbolism in that game with some beautiful moments shrouded with such a dark emphasis on who these characters really are and how what they're doing isn't particularly right or in some cases, wrong.
I'm going to give this game a chance when I attempt the co-op, since again, I've only tasted a tad bit and it was a demo. It'll be nice seeing how this game picks up and how Isaac and Ellie has been dealing with what happened in the last installment. I'm going to judge this game off it's own merits (or at least I'll try), and have my expectations at decent. It sucks that the demo is a poor representation of what could potentially be a great game, but whatever.
scotty243MemberHave you guys seen The Phantom Pain trailer that came out a month ago? I told gr8 it looked exactly like a MGS game with even the entire MGS fan-base lusting to it, but he was on the fence until more evidence appeared across the net. Is there a possible connection between both games and if so, where would it take place? I'm not a big MGS fan and with it's convuluted story, I've had trouble keeping up with who's betrayed who, such and such, but would this be after 3? Or would this be a Ground Zeroes set piece? It's hard for me to tell, as you know why, and I'm also wondering if this will be a dream sequence or something since there's a focus on horror here, or at least elements of that.

Yeah, just um… Send them over here, too. Oh, and don't forget all your games as well
Going to start Medal of Honor: Frontline later on today as I don't want to make RE6 tedious since I'm relatively enjoying that game even more. Wondering whether I should go for the gold medals or Hard playthrough…
Making small progress in RE6 with the collectibles and managed to snag a decent player for Mercs randomly Going to clean up the rest of the misc. trophies and collectibles so I can have Pro. playthrough left to save for another time. From what I remember, I possibly need 4 skills left to upgrade? That should be done soon though.
scotty243MemberSince I've been slacking on some of my shows, I started watching FOX's supposedly next 24, The Following, and am interested, but not fully invested in it yet. It's a dark show, which I like, but it's the fact that whoever wrote the villian makes him out to be something that's not really, iconic? I truly think he could be possibly the Joker for TV since the show is sort of that, Batman/Joker, type vibe going on but while the actor is playing his part nicely, his written as just giving one of those menacing smiles and throwing in literally insane pieces of dialogue. I can't explain this show and if I go further into depth, I'd probably spoil it for some of you interested. I'm definitely interested, but hopefully they take full swing of their potential for such a menacing antagonist.
scotty243Member@ gr8
That's exactly why I'm pessimistic with the co-op, unless there is a choice or something at the end, not everyone will be able to experience the full game since you'll basically be playing two different games.
Just to throw into your point with the death of either protagonist, what sees fit to me is if there's some sort of sacrifice type thing going on or something final stand where only some people could survive, but not everyone with Carver being the one to die. The reason, I believe his backstory is something where his family was butchered by the necromorphs or something and he's only in this to destroy the thing that killed his family, or the source in this case. So basically, I think the ending will play out with Isaac finding Ellie, while shits going down, Carver says how we need to get out of here, blah-blah, there's no way out, Isaac decides if he can make a right, or save someone, it has to be Ellie since there has always been that little slice of love going on Carver does the heroic thing, touches Isaacs shoulder, “No, you actually have something worth living for…” Epic line that will live on for the ages, Isaac wants to fight Carver but Carver talks him out of it because Ellie is something Isaac did right or was able to save, unlike Nicole, then Carver throws in another epic line to signify why you should cry, “When the time comes, we'll meet again” then something to give some remembrance to his family, Isaac leaves with Ellie, Carver does either a last stand act or has to touch some panel, BANG! “We've lost so much, but there's time to rebuild all of that,” another epic line from Isaac while he holds Ellie.
Or EA's vision….
Vice-versa, Isaac is finally able to rid himself of his demons if he decides to do the whole sacrifice ending type thing with Carver says, “You don't have to, there's always another way,” with Isaac replying, “You know there's not.” Carver having finally realized Isaac isn't a bad guy and how much of a dick he's been throughout the entire game decides to give his apologies, “I'm sorr-” Isaac interupting him to the usual, “There's not enough time, you've got to go!” Pushes him away and while Carver looks back witnessing Isaac watching the sun set, with Carver saying, “I'm sorry.” “Just GO!” replys Isaac. Carver flies away, Isaac dies some sort of death, and the universe seemingly saved from the necromorph threat with the death of a hero.
Since ending #2 doesn't mention Ellie, she either died during the course of the game or her fate is never resolved which with either one, her “journey” or “experience” throughout the game will be sold as a $9.99 DLC “expansion”.
scotty243MemberI'm wondering whether or not the co-op will be a seperate campaign sort of how Conviction had a multi-layered plot happening. That'd be awesome to incorporate again but who will we play as?

Oh
I don't want to hate the game though, but nothing about the game seems to grasp me at all. From some of the trailers, it seems it'll show a bit of Isaac's civilian life, and I'd personally love to see more of that with him coping with his past trauma while trying to live a normal life. Other than that really, seeing as this is Isaac's “end” as said by developers in past interviews, etc. I'm really wanting to see how it “ends” although it might follow cliche sacrifice for the greater good type shit.
scotty243MemberSiege actually seems cool, I think. I'm a bit upset since they're adding trophies alongside with it, from assumption, and while it makes no sense why they couldn't have added this MP in the main game, it's that the price is relatively “cheap”.
scotty243Member@ gr8
Lol, dude, I was just stating why I was angry and decided to use some of the points you had brought up. I apologize if I made it seem like I was out to get you or something, I was just angry at the time which resulted in a mess of a page long rant And I'm not angry at you or anything man, I find it pretty funny how we still can't agree on games
@ Seibei
Actually, someone had actually argued with me about home theater and HDMI cables and how I wasn't getting the “true” Dead Space experience And when did I say the 2nd quotation? Hm…
The gameplay though for me the entire time just felt like a shooting gallery rather than something Dead Space-y, if you know what I mean? It just felt like a standard shooter while I was playing it and didn't leave any sort of impression otherwise.
I still can't grasped the fact that some people aren't going to get the full story, experience, or whatever the hell you prefer to call it since some won't be able to do the co-op. It'd be cool if something like that was implemented in New Game +, to give you an incentive to go back and learn a bit more about the back story or engage in certain set pieces that weren't present or was played out differently the first time.
And yes, I made a silly paragraph about Carver's bad assery but it was because I read it wrong at the time. But I still can't get why add someone like Carver in the game? I don't know… He's not sympathetic or in any way to me “cool”.

scotty243MemberI cannot explain how enraged I am at this game, I truly cannot. Yes, I know, I laughed at the demo myself but I was entirely pissed off by what this series has become with this game (although Em's humor kept my sanity).
Alrighty, let me get this out of the way, first and foremost. Where was the horror in Dead Space? I'm talking about any of the games in the series, I seriously would like to know. Not one part had me scared in any of the Dead Space games. Yes, one could argue that there are parts of the game that make you tense only because you've tons of enemies walking your way while you're nursing 3 or 4 bullets. And while you could argue, “Well you're not playing with an HDMI or on a home theater system!” Well, why the ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** would that matter? Just because you hear a random sound in the backround all of a sudden makes it frightening? You might as well say that Spec Ops is horror as well when you're walking through the desert and BANG! You hear a sniper shot go off. To me, Dead Space never was, and never will, be a frightening game to play.
This co-op you guys keep raving about is fcuking nonsense. You know what it says to people who have this game and can't connect to EA's servers or Origin, FCUK YOU. Basically, if you bought this game for story but don't have an internet connection, you're going to miss out on certain setpieces or plot points which you otherwise could experience on EA's servers. Why build a game with co-op features (this is for Dead Island, and all those “built” for co-op experiences too) and not have a fcuking split screen option? It doesn't matter if we're in an age where everything is revolved around the net, you should rob features from someone just because they don't have an online pass or an internet connection (for my man Finch ).
You want to know one of my personal issue with this game, gr8? It's NOT Dead Space. One could argue the same goes with RE, etc. etc. But the reason why it's not Dead Space is because there's nothing unique about it. What the fcuk is unique in the plot, characters, or even gameplay that isn't out in the current market? Hm? Tell me? 'Cause I'd really like to know. Perfect example, Dead Space 2. The plot (which mixes into the gameplay), featured a broken down man: Haunted by his past, hunted by himself, isolated, desperate, and full of regret and sorrow and who was trying to rebuild himself and do something he couldn't do in DS1: Making a right. What is this DS3? Essentially every other mindless third person “military” shooter to tackle with your “bros”. What's unique about this game? I'm not seeing a spectacular plot or anything that was shown in past DS games.
This needed a whole other section just for the gameplay. Alright, so where is the dismemberment? Huh? Wait… What do you mean there's no dismemberment? Oh, wow… This game is essentially just a shooter with just some decent gameplay. There's no need to tactically and strategically take down baddies in this game since now you could just blow guys away with any gun. There's not special weapons for certain predicaments, just use whatever you want an unload a clip into a guys chest. Which then brings me to the universal ammo. This is probably one of the biggest pieces of shit I've seen in a video game. Why have universal ammo? Seriously, why? So, what the they're basically saying is that if I run out of ammo for one gun, then ammos out for ALL of my guns. Why the ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** would I want that? That completely removes the tension in the fire fights as well as last stands since now you could use the best gun in the game which will remove all of your problems. Past DS games have had you scrapping together scattered (and near empty) clips of ammo for your weapon, barely having enough ammo to take down a few guys, now you could eliminate military trained personnel in this game as well as “taking down the threat”. Whatever… It's stupid to me.
This was one that actually made me chuckle, Carver's design including traits, etc. Alright, so you're saying he's a bad ass character, huh? Well, he's basically Isaac Clarke from DS2 with just a douchey attitude. Why the fcuk would I care about some bad ass military guy who has some visions and has an attitude? Isaac in certain points of DS2 was literally having life and death battles with his own self, how isn't that bad ass? The final part of DS2 has you even fighting his subconscious with his personal demons coming to life, that's motherfcuking bad ass right there. Guess what else is bad ass, a technician, never having killed a thing in his life, having to fight for his life and forced to do horrible things that he's never imagined himself doing. Carver resembles Marcus Fenix to the pulp with his “ultra kick ass warrior scar”, grizzly look, to his backround of being a military officer.
There's much more to talk about this game and many arguement points I've missed, but I've already typed too much. I'm not trying to start anything, I just wanted to briefly explain why I'm frustrated by this mess. I truly am angered by this game, but oh well, what's that saying, “….Gotta take one for the team….” etc. etc.
scotty243MemberSo, basically, what we have here is a “Hack 'n Slash” game with Stealth mechanics. Hm… Do you guys know what the basic foundations of gameplay for a Hack 'n Slash game are? Hm? Any of you?
It's motherfcuking blocking and dodging.
^ See that, this game features NONE of that, whatsoever. Why the fcuk are you going to develop an action game without the basic “requirements”? This just blows my mind, it really does. Along with the gameplay mechanics, the Blade mode that every single game journo as well as E3 “Play testers” have just moaned about how incredible and simplistic the cutting is – Almost like slicing that nice slick piece of butter for toast. Well guess what? It's dreadful. I honestly cannot fathom at how poor the controls are nor explain how bad this whole game controls.
Let's move onto this Stealth right here, which I told you ladies was in here!! This game features Stealth?! Although it's an action game?! WHAT?! Unless you are superb at this game, the truth is, just fcuking stealth it since once an alarm triggers, it's essentially game over since the controls are disgusting and it's brutal passing through waves of expertly trained CQC specialists.
I cannot just explain how the gameplay for once in a game just makes me not want to play it. I don't mind suffering through a shitstorm of gameplay, like The Walking Dead, to get a meaty story, but what I do despise is when you have a game that misses basic gameplay features.
scotty243MemberWow, that is actually sad. I'm not a huge fan of THQ's products, but seeing as some of their employees were “fired” and IP's being handed off to shitty studios makes it all the more worse.
Metro might as well be doomed forever and Saints Row will never be able to try and impress me since Deep Shit is taking over.
Y'know the worst part of this all? THQ has released interesting IP's and such with each dev. just struggling to scrap enough cash to call it a paycheck while we have companies who simply release the same shit each and every motherfcuking year with NOTHING new and make more than something trying to get a real story out there. This is fcuking ridiculous. I could be exagerrating, but this is quite sad to see.
***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** you yearly iterations.
