Finally finished off Dishonored so moved onto Infamous: FOB. Finished that off sharpish so now it's time for a bit of Tomb Raider
Although we all know who will be getting the award (Infinite), I'd give out a nomination to Tomb Raider for GOTY without hesistation. Not once did I try to compare Tomb Raider with Uncharted and even when I did, it was hard for me since I found them to be two seperate games. TR is a story about survival while Uncharted is a cinematic summer blockbuster. Anyway, hope you enjoy
Finally hit my goal of 60% completion rate after finishing Darksiders and I feel completely burnt out. I've more games to play but don't feel the urge to really start anything new. I could start Demon's Souls and whore out the plat within a few days but as of right now, it's unappealing to me. The same could be said about Zombie Tycoon 2: Brainhov's Revenge but I think I might just settle with Shank 2 Hard playthrough and co-op sessions on Saint's Row with a friend of mine.
Was thinking of perhaps starting Hydrophobia and Closure next weekend since I'm sick as of right now and have quite a few books I've been eager to read, which I could do throughout the week? Eh, who knows

And for Man of Steel, I really don't see why the critics hated it that much. Every criticism is just nitpicks really. It has the BEST action scenes in ANY superhero movie, it's fast paced, the actors are all good, and I really liked the dark tone and sci-fi elements that were in the beginning of the movie. Money well spent.
Well, not every criticism is a nitpick, really. I mean, the action scenes that occur in this film are flat out mental with whole towns/cities being practically wiped off the map. Towards the end, Metropolis is obliterated to the point where you could just make an X on where the city used to be. The reason I'm even mentioning these scenes are due to the fact that at no point in the entire 143 minutes of this film, there is not even a mention of the devastating amount of loss that occured. Millions of people are crushed by buildings, beaten to death by Zod's forces, or turned to ash and unlike The Avengers, there's not even a scene to mourn the loss or even a cheesy scene with Superman looking over the distance saying something where it was his fault Metropolis was destroyed and how the deaths won't be in vain – Instead, we receive a scene where he looks at his father's grave then everything is normal with no even coping with what happened, just another day at the office, eh?
You say this film has a “dark” tone, and with a dark tone, a good majority of people expect serious consequences or a more realistic approach to what would happen instead of it's Looney Tunes universe it resides in.
Also, the final battle between Zod and “teh Man of Steel” was a goddamn video game the entire time. The CGI was incredibly noticable the entire time and even looked worse than Iron Man 3's action scenes. And if you actually paid attention to the final battle, Clark got all pissy when Zod wanted to kill some family however through the entire battle, they're smashing into buildings, blowin' shit up and whatnot which would cause thousands, if not a million more people, to perish under those conditions.
With that, the whole Krypton portion of this movie raised some eyebrows because you have this whole alien civilization which is very unique, but everyone speaks English? 'Cause yeah, I'm going to believe extraterrestrial life forms speak the same language as any regular human being would do even though they live galaxies away and have never met us before (which is stated by Jor-El when he says, they seem to be an intelligent life species while he's finding a place to send his son).
I could keep typing up more on the bullshit Man of Steel entices however I'm just not in the mood. Anywho, despite the problems this film presents and my “critical” side to me, I actually liked this movie. The smallville aciton scene was pretty dope but what was the highlight of this film, and I wished Zack Snyder would just do a whole movie based on it, was the first 20 minutes of Man of Steel where you just witness the unevitable depressing fall of Krypton, which was quite beautiful, I think.
There's one shot in particular where Jor-El (Russel Crowe) walks out of a building and witnesses Krypton under siege with buildings being destroyed, epic “dogfights” occuring, and just an over magnificent shot that is worthy of a full price purchase. I even think it's on one of the trailers for the film.
If there's something I truly loved about this film, it was the score and the cinematography which are absolutely stellar throughout. The shots compliment the score and vice-versa. I just can't get over the deliciously engrossing job Hans did on this score, but you guys will probably dismiss it
Just make a Fall of Krypton movie and let Superman ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** off, please

So, this was a game that I've been waiting to play for awhile due to all of the good praise it has received through some friends and whatnot; did I like it? To be honest, it was alright. There wasn't anything here that was groundbreaking or extremely fun/addictive to keep me coming back. The one thing that I didn't like at all with this game was those goddamn puzzles that personally broke up the pace for me. Puzzles in this game were not fun and felt boring throughout, and I've been wondering if Darksiders II will even be worth my time since I've heard that game has double of them!!

scotty243MemberCurrently playing Darksiders on Apocalyptic difficulty. Its been a fun ride thus far, aside from a few stupidly frustrating puzzles. War is a bad ass and the executions, while visceral, are completely kick ass! Wanting to finish this game off on Monday but I can't tell the future

This was basically Mafia II all over again (except the awesome twist Mafia II had) where the story was great throughout and everything else was… meh. I didn't really have much motivation to explore Hong Kong, to be honest, since a part of me just said, “If I wanted to explore the and collect stuff in the city, I'd go to the downtown area and collect bottle caps.” The whole thing with exploration and collectibles in an open world, to me, is that I'd rather do those things in a game where I know I'll never be able to go that specific place; hence Far Cry 3, New Vegas, etc.
Anywho, good game.
scotty243MemberPre-ordered my Xbox One earlier today with it's absolutely stellar promises of innovation. The benefits of always-online DRM, anti-piracy/used game policies, and the incredible immersive experience only Xbox One can provide
The ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** am I saying? PS4!!!

scotty243MemberMicrosoft's done. It's over. Game over, man, game over. I can't stop laughing.
Sony did everything perfectly; the entire conference was beautiful. They had made at Outlast and Final Fantasy XV but holy motherfucking hell! These bastards did it! I'd like to purchase a PS4 as soon as I possibly can!!
The one possible negative, although it really isn't a negative, is the fact that either I interpreted it wrong or it was worded wrong, but was it hinted or said Plus is required in order to play online multiplayer? Eh, whatever though since Plus has absolutely stellar benefits.
Next-Gen is something to look forward to – A symbol of hope

Exquisite
scotty243MemberSo after putting about 10 hours into this game (possibly more), I find this to be just an okay game. Not really feeling the story since it's practically audio logs in the backround, and Handsome Jack isn't all too menacing. He's got a good voice actor, but he's more of a high school jackass than a real threat…
As for the actual gameplay, the entire bazillion guns thing is more talk than actual show. I understand that there's a point where not every gun can be varied however every gun I've used thus far is basically the same thing, just with an extra attachment or more damage, nothing more The actual gameplay isn't all too engrossing, since it's shoot this, shoot that which other games do much better, in my opinion… Everything feels slow in this game; button reactions are sluggish and late, melee isn't anything noteworthy (fcuk you, Assassin!), etc.
Probably the only disappointment with this game that I've had was the Assassin class – I thought he'd be bad ass!! What happened? I was eager to use that sword and to what? Some R3 half-assed melee animation? Whatever, at least the Gunzerker is a bit more fun to play with. Perhaps the Siren is the best class to use? Axton would've been my first choice if Zer0's sword wasn't so tempting
scotty243MemberFor some reason, pre-ordering Battlefield 4 seems tempting, especially since China Rising expansion seems pretty cool.
Wanting to hear more tomorrow at E3 2013. DICE, step up the single player experience!!

Unfortunately this list doesn't include games I've finished but would still like to gain a few more trophies (NFS: Most Wanted, Saints Row 3, Sleeping Dogs to name a few).
Well after 4 years, 2 months and 11 days (according to gamercards.net) I've finally finished Far Cry 2. So glad to get that piece of shit off my system. It's probably too old to really bother with an expletive filled rant on how much I hated it
Wonder how long it'll take to actually start the PS4's games!!
scotty243MemberKnocked out 100%'s for both Pac-Man and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, which I both enjoyed tremendously. Towards the end of the list, both became a bit tedious however it didn't deteriorate the overall experience in any way.
Started up The Cave a few days ago and will resume progress on it. Can't say much about my thoughts on it since I'm only 40 minutes into the actual game. The paintings on the wall though are cool, especially the Knight's backstory, which is quite hilarious, I think. Perhaps I could get this done by Tuesday?
scotty243MemberCaught an early showing of The Purge Saturday morning and enjoyed my time in the theater. While yes, it's undeniably a flawed film, I liked it throughout. There wasn't a single moment where I was bored, but then again, there wasn't a moment when I wasn't questioning some of the characters' stupidity being displayed on screen. I had much fun with this, I truly did, and would gladly pay again to see it.
If there's a highlight about this movie though, it's Ethan Hawke's character's daughter. Boy, I'd like to purge all over that
Anywho, saw Safety Not Guarenteed earlier today and wow, did I enjoy every second of that as well. It's such a charming movie and was actually quite funny throughout. It reminded me of (500) Days of Summer at times with it's two main leads. One of the better films of '12, I'd say
