Basically, this game is limbo. I don't feel as if I wasted my money nor do I feel as if I received the quality and quantity for my buck. It's whatever.
Also, for those looking to play this game: Just do it all in co-op since this game is dull by yourself.
Pretty much, yeah. Hoped it would be better, but whatever. If this game was single player only, it would be kind of unbearable. The co-op missions were pretty awesome though. I'd rather have a game full of those.
Seibei4211MemberI think the only way to make a zombie game scary is to make it incredibly immersive and dark and I don't think this game is gonna be either of those things. Unless there's something they're not showing us. ZombiU does a surprisingly decent job at making a tense zombie game because resources are really scarce and you have to manually loot bodies without pausing and stuff. And even the guns in that game are almost useless unless you get headshots.
If they somehow managed to create a good story or good characters in the game, it could be good because of that, but what are the chances of that happening? Hopefully they release a demo and we can check out the gameplay, because if there's at least some solid or slightly fun gameplay going on, I'd still probably give it a go.
Seibei4211MemberYeah, but not so much more than half the other games that get released these days. They'd be bad if this was a AAA game, but they're ok for a licensed game. Doesn't look like it's gonna be much of a good game though. Anyway, whether or not the graphics are good compared to other games, they're definitely better than they were in the early footage. Don't know if the gameplay's much better though, since this “gameplay” trailer didn't have much of that.
Seibei4211MemberSo here's the first actually official trailer for the game. Now this is more like what I expected to see in an official trailer.
Seibei4211MemberSly 4's the kind of game that I never really wanna stop playing and the only reason I do is to sleep or eat or something.
Seibei4211MemberWatch it get delayed to 2014.
Seibei4211MemberIt probably wouldn't be worth getting the PS4 when it launches anyway. But the sooner it launches, the sooner it can start getting better and get better games. I waited two years to get the PS3, but it's still wildly underwhemling compared to what they've got now.
They'd be stupid not to put cross-game chat on the PS4, simply because Xbox already has it. It'd be nice to have the option to talk to people even in single player games and we also wouldn't have to deal with problems like Far Cry 3 and Hunted's voice chat problems. I imagine voice chat in singleplayer would be like when I was keeping gr8 company as he did the Warhammer co-op, but I was playing Ocarina of Time while he did that.
Oh, and the Share button on the new controller sounds great. Being able to record the previous 15 minutes of on-screen footage? It was awesome when Just Cause 2 and Joe Danger let you do it, except you'll be able to edit the filler out with this.
Seibei4211MemberWell, had you been checking in with the Ghost Recon franchise every time they released a new game to see if you liked it? And when you didn't, did you talk about how you didn't like it and why you didn't like it? Or did you just try one or two of the games, decide you didn't like them, and stop paying attention to the series until your dad got that game?
Seibei4211MemberOk, then why do you care about what happens with Saints Row 4? The series isn't for you, man. Just let it go. They're not going to make a Saints Row game that you'll like. You have to be in the right mindset for that game and yours is not the mindset they're made for. You have to be able to not give a crap about characters, story, excellent gameplay, stuff like that, and just have fun messing around. I'm not compatible with certain series, so I don't waste time trying to like them.
Seibei4211MemberWhy did you play Saints Row 3 anyway? From what I know about what you like in games, Saints Row 3 just seems like the anti-scotty. There's not a single aspect about that game that I would think you would like. It seems like you would've known what this game was about beforehand and you wouldn't play it. It'd be like if I bought a Mass Effect game or something.
Seibei4211MemberYeah, the dungeon ones could be annoying if you missed them the first time. It's nice that they give you a bit of a passive bonus for finding them though. If it was just for the recordings on them, they'd be totally lame. I mean, unless you liked the stories they told. How far are you into the game?
Edit: Oh, nevermind, I didn't realize you had this game for ages. I thought you just recently got it.
Seibei4211MemberI think the lorestones are only tedious if you're only going for the Plat and ignoring everything else. You tend to run into most of them just from exploring, then you can eventually have them appear on the map so they're not even hard to find anymore. I like that they let you do that. For a game of that size, they could've been way worse with collectibles, so that was nice of them.
Seibei4211Member@Doc-B: I wasn't trying to be overly negative of Just Cause 2 or anything, because like I said, it's one of my favorite games ever. I was trying to think about it from an objective view. Far Cry 3's got some of the same problems JC2 has. Each game has good stuff the other game doesn't. Both games can be just as fun if you've got the right mindset for it. Far Cry 3, for me, was probably a little more fun than JC2, because I like silenced sniping and stealth and creating plans of attacks and stuff. Far Cry 3 is probably the objectively “better” game in technical terms, but either game can be subjectively better in terms of enjoyment. I just took umbrage with saying that JC2 is easily the more fun game to play when I had more fun with FC3.
@empeedee: 3 hours in a 40 hour game (if you get collectibles)? Give it a little more time than that. At least spend some time with the second island. Driving's not very advantagous in that game anyway. Boats are good when the situation calls for it, but I rarely ever drove. You almost definitely won't need cars on the second island.
Seibei4211MemberOh my God, this is what I'm talking about. How do you know that this game is getting watered down and becoming a generic third person shooter? How do you know what the plot is? How is the general plot any different from the other games anyway? The general plot has always been to stop the necromorphs. Look at the first half of that second paragraph of yours and tell me you're unbiased – that you haven't already created some negative preconceptions about this game based on very little evidence. Then the next paragraph seemingly contradicts that.
And yes, I realize you didn't use the phrase watered down or the word awful. I'm simply condensing a sentiment into a word or phrase. Looking back at the things you've said about this game so far, it would be easy to get the sense that you think this game will be awful. And yes, game. You've made many statements about not just the demo, but the game itself.
Seibei4211MemberWhy are you even thinking about the story this much? You say you don't want to hate this game, but you've just created even more ways for the game to disappoint you. If the story matches your predictions, you'll just be “I thought so” and your opinion of the game will remain unchaged. If it doesn't match, the only way your opinion of the game will get better is if the ending's actually better than you thought. And you're already prepared to be mad at EA (who have little/nothing to do with the story) if they have a cliche ending that you've fabricated?
By the way, this is unrelated, but I've been wanting to know how this works for a while. You dislike Call of Duty and other series that churn out the same crap year after year, but when Dead Space 3 tries to change, you're pissed because it's different? If you had never liked Dead Space in the past, and you didn't like the sound of this one, then fair enough. I just think if you're a fan of the first two, then at least play the third one (for real, not a demo) before you absolutely decide that it's awful. Again, fair enough. It did take me, for example, 12 chapters of Spec Ops before I started liking it at all. I could've just stopped 6 chapters in and said it's the worst thing ever and everyone's stupid for thinking otherwise. I mean, wasn't it annoying that I was bashing that game before I even knew the whole story? I don't know if I'm going to like Dead Space 3 more or less than the previous two, so I'm going to wait until I've played a good portion of it before I make that judgment and keep the speculation out so it doesn't cloud my opinions before I've even played it. Because I wanna be fair, especially with a series I've liked so much in the past.
