when the trophies say something like:
“25 kills with 4 different assault rifles” .. does that mean 25 kills with EACH of the 4 guns (so 100 kills total) or just use 4 different guns to get a combination of 25 kills?

Ok so i’ve actually started getting into this game and I really like it! For all those bashing the game simply because of the trophies… thats a very counterintuitive thing to do im my opinion. Games are meant to be fun. If you really enjoy playing a game, don’t let trophies ruin the experience for you. Trophies are in no way mandatory. Enjoy the game!
Admittedly when I first saw this trophy list I found it to be very overwhelming. Now that I’ve actually been playing ranked matches, I realize they are achievable.
I agree with Lowcarbs. I think its the most valid statement to say that these trophies will come over time. Keep in mind I have an obsessive compulsive personality in the sense that I am a completionist with these types of things. So, I’m not just typing all this up to be a jerk. If I didn’t think it was doable, I would have said so because it would have frustrated me, too!
Give the game a chance, and have fun with it!
And now for a second post to answer some questions/share some tips on issues that I know confused me in the beginning…
– If you are at the main SOCOM screen and it shows everything at 0.00% this is NOT a bug. The stats DO upgrade correctly, this just means you havent participated in any online ranked matches.
– You can go to records, stats, then hit triangle to view your unranked statistics
– Unranked matches DO NOT count toward trophies
– Ranked matches CANNOT be custom made, rather they exist throughout the servers. They are easily identifiable because they are always the top games in the list of available games in a channel and they have the team capacities (4×4, 8×8, 16×16)
– The trophies that say, for example: “25 kills with 4 different assault rifles” From my experience, means 25 cumulative kills as long as 4 different rifles were used. (I got this portion of the trophy but for the MGs … I had used 2 different MGs, I got 15 kills with one, 10 kills with the other and it put me at 100% for that portion of the trophy)
– You can check your progress on the trophies by going to Records > Awards and then scrolling through all the subheadings available there
Hopefully that ^^ helped clear up some confusion.
I am by no means an expert at SOCOM but here are some tips at being successful in this game
– Practice in unranked matches so you can get the hang of the controls (custom unranked matches can be made)
– Move slowly and calculate your every move
– Cooperate with your team mates
And most importantly… be patient. If you just want a run and gun game then this is not the game for you.

gamer47 to answer your question it doesn’t mean 25 kills each with 4 assault rifles it is collective because I got that requirement and my 250 kills requirement is only 25%. This game is a lot funner now that I am not spending all my time in spectater mode.

Gosh people take this game so seriously I joined a clan and now I am on pre-season training!!! I mean WHAT????, well anyways I always wanted to compete in videogames.

In my opinion it sucks in comparison to Socom 2, for example. But that’s because Zipper (the original developers) are working on MAG and passed this game over to Slant Six. And they suck. As a game on it’s own, without comparing the knitty gritty details of previous releases, its good. Still alotta fun aside from the flaws.
No ones been commenting probably because these trophies are super time consuming and everyone has either given up or never even tried in the first place… lol.

I have yet to see anyone with a platinum in this game, but I’m sure there are some socom addicts out there with this… because if i’m not mistaken, the trophies were retroactive so long as you were playing ranked matches.
and the game gets very addicting! in my opinion its definitely not boring at all.. just a game that gives you trophies as you spend more time playing 🙂

Wow, can the medley/extraction/disarm related trophies be done without boosting? Even if I were lucky enough to find a clan that would help me boost those last few trophies, it would completely RESET my stats when I joined them? Right?
I could get the majority of the trophies by myself, but i would hate to reset my kills and mvps as I haven’t gotten “legion of merit yet”.
i have never played socom but i wanted this one because of its large amount of trophies, i was wondering is the game good?, are the controls hard to use?, are the graphics good? and finally are the trophies hard to get?
just wanted to no these simple questions before i buy it as i dont want to be playin a game that isn’t as fun as cod

The game is good, I enjoy it alot I don’t find the controls hard to use and the graphics are good in my opinion. The trophies wouldn’t be categorised under ‘hard’
but very, very ‘time consuming’
regarding your last question it’s very hard to compare this game to Call of Duty mainly because SOCOM is a lot more tactical, unless your playing with respawn disabled. I feel a lot more careful playing SOCOM because I know when I die I have to wait a while to come back. Aside from gameplay I must say I love Call of Duty’s unockables and perks and you don’t get any of unlockables in SOCOM just one gun when you join a clan. So that sort of takes a sense of achievement from the game, but I’m sure you know there is no better sense of achievement than hearing that ping when you unlock a trophy. Hope I helped. well i was simply wondering..if it isn’t too much trouble… that someone lets me use their account to download socom confrontation all my friends have it..but they bought the disc… soo just wonderin if anyone is willing to lend their account for 5 mins…. i’m a legit guy and trust worthy i will just click download socom and get off your account imediately and to be safe you should change your password after i’m done 🙂 no worries
it wont work. i tried on my brothers console and only 1 console can use it at a time. after that it takes 24 hours to activate again so i can play it. it sucks.

Yea Berformet is right. But the game only version is only about 30 Euro so the price is not that bad.
new patch is out today. 1.50. allows all games on all maps and also tournaments and ranked clan matches. rpgs and m203’s available in vip and hostage games also.

Yes I just downloaded it. It’s a huge update that hopefully gets rid of all the bugs and glitches.

Really? I haven’t played it since the patch because of the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed trophy patch. I was really hoping that this fixed all the bugs.

I only played the demo of Battlefield: Bad Company so I can’t really say which one is better but this SOCOM is really a love it hate it game. Both games have equally tough trophies from what I’ve heard.
SOCOM on the PS2 was the game that got me into multiplayer online fragging to begin with, and Gamer47 is absolutely right: this game has always been about strategy, stealth, and cooperation. With those three things ANY team can dominate online. As far as any video game can be, this one’s based on realism. If you want arcadey stuff, go play COD where there are plenty of unrealistic perks to satisfy your arcade needs. SOCOM is more simulation than game, at times, and it often takes a very patient, strategic mind to do well.

It’s an online-only game. There is no single-player so yea you have to do them all online.

if they keep this up i might actually buy cold front and go back to playing TDM/DM games online.. socom was pretty much the only game i EVER played online aside from maybe warhawk
I actually started liking this game after so many updates. it sucks how they banned my brothers account and now me or him cant play this game anymore. I was looking forward to the DLC too. As it goes for people saying this game sucks, if you actually get in a party with more then 4 friends, and find matches like that, and play it, even ranked matches without respawns, its more funner then COD MW2. and Im saying this, a person who hated this game when i first played it. As it for trophies, I agree with Gamer47. If you like the game, the trophies will come to you without even going for them. I got 2 silver trophies, the first day I started enjoying the game with my friends. I think I’ll just buy it on disc now.
