Another sonic, so close after unleashed? I really dont like Sonic anyway.
Don’t be so ignorant, it’s a Genesis game compilation.
Looks like a must-have to anyone who had a mega drive 😉
i had the mega drive brill i must gt this but i hears it is only out in america i order it if tht is so.
ignorant, pfft.
wow thats more sega games then I have even laying around. Probably will get this. A lot of those are good classics.
miniman2000 just thought i would let you know this game is going to be released in Europe but will be called The Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection or something similar, it is due for release February I believe.
Even though I still have a genesis and all of the sonic-related games, this is totally worth a purchase. Though, I will never get the trophy for Dr. Robotnik’s M.B.M., some of these actually add a challenge. However some of them, the Sonic 3 one in particular, are a joke.
@ J.Bowles. im sorry but i agree with liammiller18. You are ignorant to think that this is anything like the recent sonic games.
these are classic genesis / mega drive games that transcend time, and are infinitely better than ALL recent SEGA and SONIC TEAM games.
the recent SONIC TEAM games are a down right insult the the original Sonic The Hedgehog fans.
I am totaly in on this one, spent a good part of last summer on that old system will be great to relive it on the PS3 finally
everyone knows tht the old school sonic games were the best. but will this be downloadable from psn store or will it be on a disc or both?
it’s a retail game. so it’s on disc. i guess it’s possible that it MIGHT eventually be on psn… but definitely on disc first.
See for me the selling point is Streets of Rage 3, have the first two on cart but been dying to play it again, kinda like capcoms punisher which would be great if a gen collection 2 should ever pop up
All the games in the collection have been “converted” to high definition and will be output in 720p. To top everything else, the collection will retail for only $29.99. The only caveat thus far is that it appears the collection won’t support any sort of online multiplayer, as the game details page notes that players can play “with a friend from the same console at home.”
Still, 40 games for 30 bucks is a damned good deal, and one that older gamers will find particularly difficult to resist. The initial list of 40 games is after the break. Sega plans to announce the unlockable titles “soon.”

Hey guys. I purchased a game similar to this called: Sega Genesis Ultimate collectors edition. My brother loved it so I decided to give it to him for Christmas… after i found out this gem of a game was being released.
This collection features even more games including the Streets of Rage series which is amazing and a game called E-SWAT!!!!!! check it out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1guZTzUtydE&feature=related
Another great series on this one that is a MUST HAVE is Shining Force.
i was also looking up shining force. This guy (HeavensFrogman) does a complete game walk through of shining force..along with many other games. Best part is, he includes commentary 🙂 freakin hilarious
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_ktyEL4g-w&feature=PlayList&p=EF2A5E5814922093&playnext=1&index=1
Anyways guys. I love these collections and I wonder how the upgraded graphics will improve this collection.
The only Beef i have is that they shoulda made a trophy for Shining Force that makes all people play and beat this great game.
@ Shadeblack
Well im sorry myself cause I dont know anything about sonic or the companys that do both of the games. I was only saying that two sonic games in quick consession was a little odd.
only if this game had online multiplayer, why wouldnt they add that in?
Maybe if we made a petition and enough people signed it we could have some online. Co-Op SoR online would be amazing IMO.
@ J.Bowles
Fair enough… but it’s not like they have another game, rather re-releasing and older (yet much better) game.
anyways, im totally getting this on pre-order. i can’t wait!
only thing is.. i could never beat Dr. Robotnik’s mean bean machine… closest i ever got was stage 9 then it got too hard.
I wonder if you can just do the level select for it. lol!
@shadeblack
If this game is similar to SEGA Genesis Collection for the PSP, then you can create savestates at any point; humbling many of these trophies. I just played through around twelve of the trophy requirements on my PSP and had little trouble with them.
Also, I found out that Flicky is fun.
IMO, There should be a trophy for every game. It`s not as though that wouldn’t be fair, because there`s so much content in the game. It would total at 46 trophies that way, also giving some incentive to play some of the lamer games (Phantasy Star 3 and… err…)
savestates huh? i guess that will make just about all of these trophies fairly… well… rediculously easy.
i guess we won’t know until it comes out… im really looking forward to play Sonic 3 again. although sonic 2 was my favourite, I thoroughly enjoyed Sonic 3 as it had a little more to offer.
Golden Axe as well is one im particular parched for.
yeah having trophies for all the games is what i originally thought it would be like… shame its not but hey, at this point i think trophies for this particular title is just additional awesome-ness.
Hey gang,
In the other collection like this for the PS2 you had to play certain games and do certain things to unlock the video’s artwork and even some other games.
Things might be similar on this title. So you most likely have to achieve other objectives in games to open up the videos, games, artwork that you need for trophies.
side note. I’m finding that I enjoy the PSN downloadable games more than full games right now. Easy to get into a game and fun to play with friends…. also the fact that I get most of them for free from a friend helps too. Thanks GE 🙂
Hey. Anyone want to have a race to see how fast you can get a platinum in this game?
Overall time will start when you achieve your first trophy and go till you get the platinum.
I accept the challenge… if I can figure out how to beat mean bean machine lol.
that game gets crazy hard.
I too accept this challagen, since you have made it clear its starts when your first trophie is achive and from then on, It might take me a few days to get the game based the whole payday issue lol. but yeah its on like donkey kong
That sounds like an AWESOME challenge! I accept, let’s just put down a few grounds rules.
1. Your first trophy must be the Alex Kidd one (it’s obscenely easy), making a simple marker for everyone to go by.
2. You must post photos of the Alex Kidd trophy and the Platinum as proof of your time. Use photobucket IMO.
3. Post your time. No one wants to do the math unless your time seems too quick. >_>
4. You don’t talk about Fight Club.
5. Have fun. You [b]MUST abide by this rule most of all! XD
Do you guys think these rules are fair?
And BTW, the last 5 trophies look ballistic. Those could take quite some time. V_V
yeah the all artwork might actually require you to beat EVERY game.
I accept the rules. I accept the challenge. I’m not sure if i can get the platinum on this one – i know most are easy but a few are very hard. but that’s why it’s a challenge!
good luck everyone… i don’t know about other countries, but this comes out in the UK on the 20th of Febuary (2009 ofc).
so others might not start before others.
cool
oh and lol at:
“4. You don’t talk about Fight Club. “
rejoice
A NO LIFE TROPHY LOL..there should be one if those in every game!
is this game gonna be available in the Playstation Store?
@ pobert06
I wish it would be available via PSN, guaranteeing a first-day buy. Unfortunately it isn’t, and so I have to hunt down a copy. >_>
Game is now out.
Game is selling for 39.00 at Blockbusters
I just got it yesterday and loving my old school faves (Shinobi & Streets of Rage). Hopefully with it having the PSN tag on top of the cartridge that would indicate possible future DLC with more games & possible online co-op if capable.
heh might look into gettin this.. all the other sonics sucked ass after the 1st adventures game on DC
aww man you guys already got this!?
I have to wait another week or so!
pre-ordered, but it doesn’t come in the UK until the 20th.
Damn yo, I’ll be done with this and onto street fighter 4 by the 20th.
Can’t wait! sounds brilliant.
such a good idea.
Sonic 2 and golden axe…. awesome.
might get this rather than X-Blades..i missed all the old games..
Hey gang,
Just picked this up last night from Walmart. $39.99 plus tax here in Canada.
The menu setup for the game is pretty cool. You can rate the games and then have the games listed in order from your most favorite to least favorite rather than just alphabetical.
Also as you scroll through the game list, a little video of the game starts playing on a sega genesis cartridge
I’m waiting until the weekend to get cracking on the trophies so that I can have the time to plow though for the competition. Right now i’m just playing Shining Force (i love that series)
Good luck to everyone,
Some of these trophies are going to be hard!
i might have a look at this in the shop looks like a good buy for the price of it…
Most of these trophies are mind numbingly easy, however columns (easy as pie trophy) is probaly one of the hardest. I can only get about 11,000 points! Does anyone else find this very difficult to get?
The games been out for two days and I have all the trophies. It was really easy, maybe only 6 hours of game play. Probably less if I tried harder. I didn’t think the columns one was hard. I got it on the second try, I was a little rusty =p . I had a little trouble on the vectorman 2 one and for Dr. Robotnik’s mean bean machine, I got out my original copy and I had the code to the last level written in it. The code is yellow, has bean(star looking guy), blue, blue for anyone who needs it.
Where do you view the artwork?
also i have played all the games but did not get
Blast Processing
Play all Genesis™ Titles
You have to play all the games in one sitting to get the Blast Processing. All you do is start Alex kid as soon as you see Sega quit the game and go down the list. When you get to VectorMan 2, you’ll have the trophy. To view the artwork, go the the museum. To do this, at each game press circle. When the text loads, press R1. Look at both the box art and the cartridge.
Thx for the help with the artwork one. I had kept looking in ‘extras’ before.
I’m still not getting Blast Processing Trophy though 🙁 . I’ve played every game on the list in one sitting, even the arcade ones. I hope its not glitched.
Finally got it. I loaded up each game and started it before returning to the menu.
Sorry ketones, the colums trophy wasn’t that hard to get cuz you have to do it on easy. Now Dr. robotniks mbm is the one I’m stuck on… last one too, well besides plat
